I have a 2005 S Type Jaguar. The ABS light remains
On the later S types, the two 8mm headed bolts that hold the trans cable to the
side of the transmission work loose and at times completely fall out. Give those
bolts a look before replacing anything..Determine that the transmission is actually going in to gear when the gear selector is moved.
Don't worry about the surface rust on the rotors, this will happen on any car that is not driven daily in salty conditions. The ABS light is probably a sensor, the system will need to be scanned to detect the problem...I hope this helps.

Right headlight not working.
If you have a standard halogen light, it probably needs to be replaced as the brights can still function when the low beam goes out. To replace the standard halogen light, First you need to remove the plastic retainers on the upper radiator support. Then locate the bulb cover and rotate it 1/4 turn to remove it. Disconne?t the bulb connector and push the retaining clip in and away from the hook. Slide the bulb out paying attension to the locating tab. Install the bulbs the same way as removed. It is a very tight fit and small hands are a plus

How to reset service light
I think the following will work:
1 . Insert key into ignition barrel.
2 . Press and hold the Reset switch
(located on the Trip Computer Switchpack).
3 . NOTE: The reset switch has to
be released immediately after the ignition is switched 'ON'. This is critical to
enable the rest of the procedure.
Turn the key to Ignition position II and at
the point of entering Ignition position II (i.e when a click is heard),
instantaneously release the Reset switch.
4 . Wait one second.
5 . Press
and hold the Trip switch (located on the end of the left-hand side stalk).
6
. Wait one second.
7 . Press and hold the Reset switch (whilst still holding
the Trip switch).
8 . The cluster should display (within three seconds) the
warning message 'RESETTING SERVICE MODE'.
9 . Keep both buttons pressed until
the warning message changes to 'SERVICE MODE RESET' (after ten seconds).
10 .
Once the message is displayed the buttons may be released â€" sequence is now
complete.
11 . If a Service Required message was displayed prior to the reset
sequence, cycle the ignition to 'Off' and then back to Ignition position II and
check that the message is no longer displayed.

"Fault, Parkingbreak", yellow engine light. How
You need to sort out the yellow light which could be either fluid level or wear on the brake blocks or pads. The parking brake should operate on a cable that can be adjusted to release, or you need to release the brake fluid by turning the bleeding nipple.

Key won't go into dooor
There may be an obstruction in the door that should be looked at by a lock smith. It also could have been tried to picked by someone. Also try putting the key in different ways.

My 2005 Jag S-Type 6
You have a fault condition in the the engine management system - get the codes read to indicate where the fault lies ... It is probably just a faulty sensor as this is the most common cause of check engine warnings. The restricted performance condition is meant to protect the engine or components from damage, so don't panic - get the codes read - its probably not as bad as you expect.
hope this helps - good luck.

Engine warning light came on yesterday in my 2005
You can get a free scan at Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance autoparts. I have not heard of a warning light from an Air filter. There are some indicators in the Maintainence Minder for some vehicles in the drop-down Menu. This usually is for Oil Change intervals and is not the same light as a "check engine" warning.
Once set, the "Check" light usually has to be cleared or it will continue to show the old problem after it is fixed, for about 35 Start-ups. This means that unless the system is reset with a scanner, it will be some time before you know if your repair was successful. Most likely you have another problem which could be anything from a bad O2 Sensor to a loose gascap.
I hope you take my advice about the scan and that you found my solution very helpful.

I am interested in buying an S Type but I have
99% of jaguars sold are auto ..... it makes sense in a car like this. Yes there are issues with the gearboxes but I have owned two s types and had no REAL trouble. My current car suffers from the ''lurch'' but this is a software problem and can be improved. If you buy a good car from a decent source with a proper warranty and service history you stand as much chance with a s type as any other car (except Lexus- which are almost Bomb proof) - good luck

Hand brake warning light stays on
THat is not only your hand brake warning light but that is also the warning light for your brake system. IF you are not capable of servicing your braking system get it looked at by a service center right away this is not something that you want to take chances with. Check your brake fluid in the reservoir to start and if it is empty add some and make sure that it is not leaking out!
