Door locks on 2005 Jag xk8 not working. Cant close doors
It could need fault codes erasing and defaults restoring with diagnostic equipment but the symptom you describe could equally be caused by the internal switch in one of the door catches that tells the brain the doors are closed.
If the brain doesn't receive a door closed signal from each door and the boot lid it will not allow the central door locking to operate.
I suggest you check the owner's handbook for user information and then reassure yourself all the doors are closing and correctly adjusted.
This is something freezing weather can affect.
Locks set off alarm
Inside the door is a door switch that is called the tamper switch or door ajar switch, each door has one, it may be defective, it is the Ford designed switch and they have had problems. To confirm the next time the system goes off, unlock and lock the passenger door if it has a lock, my new car doesn't and I know many makes don't have any passenger side door lock cylinder. If doing that shuts of the security system the switch is surely defective or the wiring to it is damaged.
Headlight goes off and comes back on sometimes
sounds like you have either a bad connection at your headlights due to corrosion etc. or a bad wire take the plugs off of your lights and check for corrosion and clean really well you can put electrical grease on your plugs so that they dont corrode if it is not that than i would have your switch checked
Hello - I took my
Beware. Many of these repair shops make most of there money by scamming
people and doing this type of work when it is not necessary.Auto manufacturers design new vehicles to last a many times longer without any type of service.I do recommend getting a full service at around 100,000 miles.Timing belt, plugs ect.You should change your air filter every 30 to 35,000 miles.

the petcock is vacuum operated, there should be a small hose just behind the larger fuel hose thats attached to the petcock. What it does is when the bike is cranking over it sends vacuum though this hose and operates a diaphram in the petcock causing fuel to be released in the fuel line. This is for people that don't turn the fuel off as far as I know. Anyway if you take the small line off and get another piece that fits there and turn the petcock on and **** on the small hose it should send fuel out the bigger fuel hose if it works correctly.
Hope this helps

Having a restoration shop and running several newer Jaguars I have seen similar situations. Intermittent multiple errors such as these can be caused by a low battery (or corroded connections) that "fool the computers". Also had a '99 XJ8 VDP have exactly the same issues over several months. Issue was a manufacturing fault in the sensors on the throttle body that caused the "limp home" mode - usually in stop and go traffic. Jaguar had an inspection and recall on the throttle bodies but that vehicle had gone through 3 different Jaguar dealers for service and none looked at TSB/Recall or performed the necessary checks on the throttle body. Tried cleaning the throttle several times (per Jaguar TSBs) but no change. Had to replace throttle body & problem solved (over 30,000 miles since then). Recommend making sure all air connections to throttle are clean and open and cleaning the throttle area to see if that helps.
On newer Jaguars (and other Al bodied cars) similar problems occur when the "ground" connections to the body become poor (usually through corrosion but sometimes through collisions). Connections may look perfectly normal but have high resistance. Careful when working with the connections - the posts are usually very loosely fastened to the bodies. Good luck.
