Hi, I have an Elantra

First, if a shop installed your alternator and the belt that drives the alternator also drives the power steering pump, then it may have failed if not properly installed. Is your battery light on(indicating that the alternator is not working)? That's what i would check for, a failed belt. Take it to the shop where it was installed, if you installed it yourself, that's what i would look for. Was there any noise prior to this happening? like belt screeching. Turn the car on and open the hood and check to make sure that first and foremost, all your belts are attached and if so that all the pulleys are turning and that there are no seized pulleys. All pulleys have to be turning.

No, you won't do any harm in the short term, but it would be a good idea for you to put it in for a tune-up, so that this problem will be fixed properly, and the car will be 100% again. Don't forget to mention this problem when you book it in.

Stiff clutch on 2002 elantra , clutch and

FYI, the slave cylinder is pushing correctly, the clutch is the 'PULL TYPE', not the 'PUSH' type.
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register the vehicle by VIN #. You'll then have access to Shop Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Illustrations, Service Bulletins, etc.

The clutch on the 2002 Elantra, as I mentioned, is the "Pull Type". Instead of 'Pushing' on the throw-out bearing, it "Pulls" on it. The pressure plate engages when the bearing is released (when it is 'pulled' back into the pressure plate 'fingers'

Was the new trans & clutch installed at an authorized Hyundai Service Department? If not, you might want to have them inspect the installation to determine what's wrong. If it WAS installed by a Hyundai Service Dept, take it back to them & tell them to FIX IT!

I have a 2002 hyundai elantra and my power

Hi,

Let me see if I can help you.

Your problems probably lies with either the power steering pump or the belt that turns the power steering pump. The solutions suggested are used in my shop and follow a process of elimination and they are designed to save you money before you invest in a new pump.

First, check the power steering fluid level.

Second, if that didn't solve the problem, in all probability you have one of the following problems:

? Power steering gear inlet (pressure) hose grounding out: Check and adjust for proper mounting, routing and clearance.
? Rack bearing preload loose: Have it adjusted to specifications.
? Tie rod ends loose: Have inspected and replace if needed.
? Intermediate shaft universal joints loose: Service and/or replace.
? Steering gear loose: Torque mounting bolts to specifications.
? If you get the same situation when the vehicle is not moving, especially if the brakes are applied, have the partial gear assembly replaced. (A replacement partial gear, which includes the valve, will also have a slight noise, and is not always a cure for the condition)
? Lastly, your pressure plates and vanes may be scored. Have them checked and replaced as needed.

If none of that fixed the problem, let's look at the other alternatives:

? Control Arm Bushings. Inspect and replace as needed.
? Stabilizer Shaft Loose. Inspect and repair/replace as needed.
? Suspension Bolts Loose. Torque to specifications. Check ball joint to knuckle attachment for out of round hole in knuckle; replace parts as needed.
? Replace the Power Steering Pump

All the best

Ben

The keys are locked in the trunk. a lock smith

Remove the back seat. Back seat has two parts, bottom section that you sit on and back section. In between the bottom and back sections there are two bolts, feel for them and then remove. Once removed the bottom section can be pulled out. Then you can see the hinge at the bottom of the back section, remove bolts at the bottom and then you can lift up and access the trunk.

There are several things that can make those two guages not work, including a defective instrument cluster. Electrical diagnosis needs to be performed to locate the cause of the failure.

2002 Hyundai Elantra 2.0, #1

If it is only that circuit and not the parts itself, it is likely that either someone has damaged the wires going to the ECM to drive the injectors or the ECM has failed on those 2 drivers. My suspicion is that this happened shortly after the install. Find where the wires are for the device itself and see if they are in close proximatey to any wiring harnesses or has been cut. This is where you will likely find the culprit.

If there is a rubberized hose (and there probably is) connecting the fill pipe to the tank, check to make sure it hasn't partially collapsed, thereby restricting fuel flow thru it.

I need to know how

Remove the intake tube, maf, etc. Undo the fuel line into the rail. be careful fuel will spray if the car has recently ran. cover it with a rag to avoid spray. Remive any vacuum lines including the large one to the brake booster. Re,move the 2 coolant lines to the throttle body. There will be 2 supports that go to the block on the underside. Remove the bolts for those. Undo any plugs and harnesses in the general area. Remove the manifold. I believe it is 5 12mm bolts.

2002 Elantra running lights stay on when the car

The running lights on your vehicle are not controlled by the ignition switch. You must turn off the headlamp switch to get them to turn off. If you cannot turn them off with the headlamp switch, then you most likely have a defective headlamp switch.
