Door lights stays on after door is closed
Hello
What you need to do first is to control the light from the switch to see if it is set to off or door,if it is door,it might not go off immediately until you start the car.If it is set on off then there might be an electrical problem and you might have to get an expert to fix it for you.
GOODLUCK
Not backing up if car
Not getting past 45mph, is almost a damaged exhaust converter,
that has broken down inside & is clogged
That should not happen in ten years,so you have had misfires
or rich fuel conditions over the years, that ruined it
Next would be a totally bocked gas filter
Not as likely, if it were changed ever 3 to 5 years, it should be okey
The transmissiom issues I will only say due to having once owned
a trans shop & the 10 years on the car.
Your are most likely only going to fix that, by pulling it out & rebuilding it
Why?
Because no one ever changes trans & include power steering fluid,
every 3 years & not over 30,000 miles
Not changing trans fluid is a death sentence
I have a 2001 Lincoln Town Car . When it rains,
The vent under the hood on passenger side , more than likley the seal is leaking letting the water go inside. I have had to fix my mother's 1999 and my 2001 lincoln. It is not very hard to fix. You will have to remove the screws on the passenger panel under the hood to get to the vent. Pry the vent loose and re seal. You can take the hose and spray water on the W/S when it is dry to make sure it is coming in at that location.
My transmission seems to hesitate
Does this happen with the overdrive off or on? If it happens with the overdrive on, then suggest you try it without the overdrive and see if your indications change. The overdrive normally starts to operate in that range. While both are transmission problems the overdrive isn't as hard to repair.
What to do if your door ajar light and interior
This problem is caused by one or more of the tiny micro switches that sense the door is latched being defective, The dealer can run a special scan of the body control system module and detect which switch is defective, each door has a switch attached to the door latch and this requires the door panel be removed and the rear glass channel taken out to replace the twist in switches, so knowing which switch is the problem can save allot of time and money, so the system scan is essential.
I have a 2001 Lincolon
it sounds like the track that is attached to the widow that the motor controls has come loose from the window payne. You will need to get adhesive from a parts supplier and reattach it.
2001 lincoln town car overheated
What you need is a real mechanic to first figure out what is actually wrong with it, then replace that part. Just randomly replacing parts and hoping for the best makes no sense and can be very expensive. If it overheated badly you could have also suffered irreparable harm to the motor.
Many issues can cause overheating, your description does not provide any info which could even point someone in the right direction to consider what could be wrong with the car.
2001 Lincoln town car is squeaking in the front
It could be the the struts as I believe you have struts not shocks on your vehicle. I would start with a good lube job as well as check all your front suspention bushings. If all is good there check to make sure your struts are good. They don't need to be totally repalced as you buy an insert to replace them. Look around underneath as someone pushes the car up and down to try to isolate the location of the noise. I hope this helps and good luck.
2001 lincoln town car, 125k
I would try replacing the oil sending unit. If that does not fix it the next thing would be the oil pump or the cam bearings. But you do not have enough miles on it to indicate this.
Fan will not run checked
Many times the plug attached to the fan is not getting a good connection. Try wiggeling it with car running to see if fan kicks on.
Cylinder 5 placement?
if you have the V8 gas engine, the cylinders on the passenger side from front to back are #1 #2 #3 #4 the cylinders on the driver side are from front to back #5 #6 #7 #8. if you have a V6 gas engine the cylinder placement is passenger side from front to back #1 #3 #5 the cylinders on the drivers side are from front to back #2 #4 #6. if you have a diesel V8 engine the cylinder placement is passenger side from front to back #1 #3 #5 #7 drivers side from front to back #2 #4 #6 #8 and last but not least if you have the V10 the cylinder placement is passenger side from front to back #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 and driver side from front to back #6 #7 #8 #9 #10.
2001 lincoln town car, when
Call an autorecycler and ask them to find you a replacement seat. The doodads which make these car cost more have a short life span. If you want long life, stay with plain jane stuff. You need a new seat motor and a replacement used seat will cost less than a new seat motor and the cost to swap a seat in and out will cost less than the labor to take the seat out repair it and then put it back together.
The gear shifter will not
there is a cable running from the shifter to the key. these stretch over time and cause this problem. if you remove the cover for the shifter and remove the plastic lock and cable it should be fine. it is a safety latch and on some cars there is a button by the lever to release the catch. it is safe to operate without this hooked up but can be shifted by kids with the key off... hence the safety switch. normally not a problem for most people tho
