Emission control light came on a very hot day at
Hi Graham,Wow! 500K from nearest service center? It is really hard to advise you on this. The light could be on due to something silly like a loose gas cap, or it could be on due to something serious like low oil pressure messing with your cam timing and threatening to tear up some expensive parts. There is no way to know wjthout scanning your onboard computer network to collect fault codes and find out why your computer has turned the light on. What I can tell you is this: DO NOT disconnect the battery cable to try to get the light to turn off. If you make the computer memory reset, this will only cause confusion and make fixing your vehicle much more difficult when you do get to a service center. The mechanics are going to need the fault codes stored in your computer in order to figure what has gone wrong. Clearing the computer memory and erasing these codes will make it so they have no clue what is going on.On the other hand, your mate is correct in saying that if the light is not flashing, it is likely that you are not doing any immediate damage to the vehicle. If it starts flashing, then you should not operate it unless there is just no other way to get out of where you are. I would highly recommend towing at this point, to prevent expensive damage to the vehicle.Check your engine coolant and your engine oil to make sure that those are ok. Keep a close eye on your gauges and watch for any signs of low oil pressure or engine overheating. Other than that, get the thing diagnosed as soon as possible to prevent any further damage to the vehicle. OPERATE WITH CAUTION. YELLOW lights on the dash mean "operate with caution". RED warning lamps on the dash mean SHUT IT OFF AND DO NOT DRIVE until the reason for the red warning lamp has been resolved.I hope this advice helps you to get where you need to go and maybe ease your mind a little.

The last 5-6 I have gotten gas, 2005 Sportage hard to start at gas pump, but then fine after a few miles - mechanic is clueless!
Your code, assuming it was evap related, also means other issues aside from a loose gas cap. Your fuel system "closes" down to purge unburned fuel back through the engine. A loose gas cap will stop this process, as in why the check engine light will go on. Also, there is a vent solenoid, purge solenoid, fuel tank pressure sensor, and a charcoal canister that are involved. My guess, but if you have a bad vent solenoid, you may have symptoms like yours. Any "good" technician can test this for you.

How to replace oil pan gasket on 05 Kia Sportage LX 2.7L?
HelloYes you can do the job at home but the engine must be lifted off the engine mounts to have enough room to access and remove the oil pan, a very difficult job on the ground, fairly easy on a car lift. The job at home is about a 3-4 hour job if you are an experienced car person and have the right tools, you will need a good 2-21/2 ton hydraulic floor jack (not the cheap little ones Autozone sells) and jack stands as well as a wooden block to raise the engine up so you won't damage the oil pan..

Egine just clicks - all
Try first jump starting the car with another idling car. If the car starts up it could be the battery. Have the jumper cable and negative cable of the battery removed and see if the engine dies. If it does then it may be weakened alternator causing the battery to weaken.
If the car does not start check if the wires are secured. Check for blown fuses. Starter relay may be bad. You may connect the battery directly to the starter and see if the car starts. If it starts it may be a bad relay or fuse or even the wiring to the starter may be bad.

Malfunction indicator light came on
Take it to your local Auto Zone. They will scan your vehicles computer, and tell you what it means all for free. You can go from there. Hope this helps. Dano
