Need location of neutral safety switch please
i assume your car is auto.the switches for the only start in p and n are in the J gate and in the gearbox rotary switch, they both need to to be in sync for the car to crank and start, check the selector cable adjustment. its easy to check put lever in r and make sure the lever is PERFECTLY IN LINE WITH THE R SLOT IN THE J GATE.if not remove J gate surround and if necessary for access center console, adjust outer cable using 24mm spanner until it lines up exactly, the selector cable is also prone to stretching and going out of adjustment due to a fault in the gearbox that makes it hard to get out of park and if you force it it can damage/stretch the cable,
How do I change gearbox oil
if its the zf auto box drain the fluid from the plug in the sump pan when empty refit plug remove level plug from rh side of gearbox. 8mm allen screw, yust above exhaust, refill with correct fluid through that hole, run engine get transmission oil temperature to between 50 - 70 degees C you need temp probe to do that or jag diagnostic gear or you can guess by feeling transmission sump pan. work the gearshift through all gears. then remove level plug allow to drain if level to high or top up if low, make sur you use the correct fluid, hope this helps
I have a 2001 jaguar s type v8 that jumped timing i fixed it but its still making noise and running rough. I checked the compression and its at 135 on all cylinders, what do I do now?
i guess your engine had jumped valve timing due to broken plastic chain tensioners/slipper pads, common problem. are you sure you have got the valve timing right? not easy to do without the special tools. the compressions are to low they should be 165 psi minimum. you could have valve damage. if your engine had the old plastic tensioners then it is more than likeley to be one of engines with nicosil coated cylinder bores which wear out quickley. which will give low compression readings, recheck your valve timing first. you need a crankshaft timing tool which fits in place of the crankshaft position sensor on the flywheel housing and 2 camshaft locking bars to fit over the 2 camshafts on each bank.it is critical to get it right, hope this helps.
