Exclamation light on inside board like this [!]
HI,
well its either one of two things, either its the low tires pressure warning light, which i would set all tire pressure to correct pressure and see if it goes off,and the second is the low brake fluid light,,check the resivor and top off if needed, sometimes when the brake pads are low the resivor gets lower and sets the light,,check the front and rear pads if low replace them and then check level
Ignition key won't turn. gear can't be shifted to
Check to insure that you have the correct key. If you do, spray a little WD-40 on the key, insert it and try it again. If it won't turn, turn the steering wheel as far back and forth as you can and try the key again, repeat until the key turns. The problem is that the ignition lock is slightly out of alignment, a common problem. Usually a little patience and a little more force and it will turn.
Mechanical failure
possible 1 or more fuel injectors failing...best thing to do is actually ohm injector windings and look for 22 ohms(+ or -) of resistance. These fail sometimes as a result of fuel quality especially pertaining to alcohol content in fuel ...anything near or past 10% present in fuel can actuall degrogate the electrical windings inside the injector and causing them not to function ,therefore not providing fuel to its cylinder hence cylinder mis fire missing and extreme lack of power...good luck
My fuel gage registers empty when I just fill with gas
Most likely it is either the fuel level sending unit attached to the fuel pump or the stand alone unit (there are two sending units, both located in the tank), or, as counter-intuitive as it seems, it could be the speedometer assembly. Personally, I lean toward the latter.

Head gasket repair cost
If it's spraying out of the spout and is boiling, it's very possible that one of the head gaskets blew depending on how long it takes to overheat.
A few things to look for:
Inspect the radiator. Make sure all of the cooling fins are there, and not obstructed by dirt/debris.
Make sure the cooling fan is turning on (it should turn on when the temperature is approximately at the halfway point of the temp gauge).
Look at the color of the "smoke" coming from the tailpipe. White = steam. Some steam is normal, however, if it's constant, and a lot of it, it's a blown head gasket indicator.
Blue = burning oil. Black = unburned fuel,
