Ticking in engine after oil change
this ticking problem is probably your hydraulic lifters, when the oil is drained they also drained and they sometimes take a while to bleed so they may be noisy... the noise should be coming from the top of the engine...
I would just check that you put in the right oil aswell just incase, if the oil was to thin it may be a little noisy.. its definately a good idea to make sure the right oil was put in (e.g. 40w-50) < this is the viscosity of the oil and to find out just ask someone in you auto parts store what oil a 92 geo storm should take...
but if the noise goes away after a drive then it was just the lifters and is not a big prob
Open the tail gate.
Bad news, probably rusted like the one I had, you have to remove the panel from inside by prying the little push tabs in the middle out. Then try to move the latch from the inside of the door, you will see how it works with the cover off. Be sure you unlock the door before you try to pry the latch back!
My car doesnt start up right away
Basically it needs a service(engine). Starting problem can be due to many cause, like,
- improper fuel-air mixture or fuel pump is not as efficient enough to supply the required amount immediately, thus taking more time to start.
- plugs spark gap needs to be corrected/cleaned/replaced depending upon its condition now that take tine to heat up a bit before the spark gap is enough to produce the adequate intensity of the spark and this will affect cold starting.
- cleaning of air & oil filters
- low level of engine oil or monil
- finally comes the timing, but then the engine will always be sounding rough
Hope one of the above solves your problem......sodeep
Need to fix passenger side window
the glass of the window maybe off track in which case you remove the door panel unbolt theglass from the window regulator and set back in the correct position, it also could be a weak window motor.
Need to know how to take apart my door
You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal
(can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to
access everything inside the door
My son broke the power window lock in my 89 toyota
I have a 1989 Landcruiser but without power windows so I will tell you what I know about mine.
First remove the arm rest. you will need a large phillips head screw driver for this. Then remove the plastic trim around the door handle. This is only one regular sized phillips screw. Carefull not to do this one up too tight when you put it back on or it will crack.
The door trim is held on by about 10 plastic plugs around the edge that just pop out. Put a large flat blade screw driver behind the trim up close to where each pin and with a little twiste is should pop off. The wood isn't that strong (masonite) so you need to be gentle.
I don't know how the window switch or the door lock works as mine are mechanical but I imagine there would be some spare cable so you can partialy remove the trim and get your arm in to remove the cables.
Once the trim is off the car you should be able to see how to remove the switch.
You will probably have to get a new switch from toyota or a wreckers.
Good luck :)
No power going to my (constant 12v from battery wire)
The wiring diagram I found shows it on the same fuse as the clock and cigarette lighter. Not sure if that right as they show the Spetrum and storm as having the same wiring. But if thats not the one,yes somewhere there should be a fuse.If you find it blown replace it,if it blows again you're going to have tofind where the short is.
I am timing a 1993 GEO Storm.
At one time, one used to be able to get a handy spade connector that plugged right into the ALDL connector under the dash. I haven't seen one of those things in a long time.
Anyway, I now jumper with a home made wire. It is usually the two connectors at the bottom right corner of the ALDL connector as you are sitting in the seat.
You will know you got it if you can start the trouble code sequence as described in the manual.
