2005 Lincoln LS - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Fail safe mode is on
You have ETC Failsafe & Engine Temp Failsafe
Which do you have?
Nothing to do with PCM,who told you that,
and based on what type of testing ?
Car shaking while driving
Depends on how the shaking is for the car, it could be a few things. If it sounds like it is running terrible and shaking, the chance is that it is the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) which is located along the air intake pathway for the motor's air intake. If the sensor is faulty, then the car can vibrate but also blatantly sound like it is running rough.
If it is your steering wheel shaking while braking and not the car, then your brake rotors are warped from wear due to braking habits with dragging the brakes or a lot of heavy braking - created a high heat situation with the rotors to warp the metal.
If you recently had your tires changed, it could mean an unbalanced tire. Also check to see if your tires has any bulging from possibly hitting any curbs or potholes recently.
The problem code 2107 and 2110
If your vehicle faults in accelerating, you might have a problem with your throttle body. The 2107 code indicates a problem with your throttle actuator control module. The 2110 code indicates a problem with your throttle control system.
Service engine light keeps coming
You have to have, all vehicle problems involving any
OBD2 light on the dash, checked out in a couple of
days. Don't keep driving it,you have a possible
system malfunction
Need the code to give you ideas
Just get it checked out
If it is a transmission problem, I wouldn't even drive it.
I have owned a trans repair business and I own a 2004
LS V8.
How do I retract the piston on my rear brake
in order to get piston in theres a tool that pushes and turns the piston at the same time, damage to caliper will happen if you try to push in with c clamp, theres a tool that you can use that connects to a rachet with extension to turn in piston while pushing,
Can I add non-slip transmission additive to
Absolutely not
You don't add anything like that
to any automatic
I used to own a trans repair shop
You only use the correct fluid
If you have shift issues and I know
you do,you change the solenoid
pressure control pack,after you
change the fluid 3 or 4 times.
Change ---never flush
The ONLY THING- EVER to enter a
trans would be RED Lubgard,by
International Lubricants,avail at parts store.
You MUST,ALWAYS change trans and power
steering fluids every 30,000 miles on ALL
your vehicles, you NEVER go over 3 years
I have a 2004 LS V8
How often should you change transmisson
Every 3 years & not more than 30,000 miles
on all vehicles. Power Steering also
Yours only will drain 3.5 to 4 quarts
You will have to do it 4 times.
Twice, then drive a couple weeks
No problems two more changes
with filter replacment on second round
Mercon V --in trans
Dex Merc- in steering
Coolant -Yellow GO5 every 3 years

2005 Lincoln LS V8.
EGR Valve-is where I would start.
Remove and plug the vacuum hoses to it,
road test,problem solved,replaced EGR
After that, expect to loose 1 or 2 COP Ignition Coils a year
Any MIL Lamp on dash, you retrieve the code and go from there
Any PO301 thru PO308 if you have a V8 is a coil misfire
very, very common on the LS and most fords back to 1998
with coil-on-plug
Next clean the throttle plate and MAF Sensor
CRC Throttle Body Cleaner & CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner
Next TPS-throttle position sensor gets tested
I hope you have changed the spark plugs every
three years,regardless of milage,they are a special
NGK Plug just for the LS
Also you have to use premium fuel, sorry in an LS
When you get a coil misfire, the PCM starts to cut
injector timing and you get just what you discribed
2005 Lincoln LS in Limp Mode. I can start the car
You have a very bad COP Ignition Coil, that is spiking the PCM (computer)
The spike comes back on the TPS Sensor, then the PCM doesn't see the
throttle signal your foot sent thru, the pedal actuator (gas pedal) ,so it puts the
car into ETC Failsafe, and you can only go 6 mph.
If you got no ETC Failsafe, on the bottom right side of the dash, tell me what you do have
I need all the codes,if you have a MIL Lamp on ( the one that looks like a wrench)
How do you change the
Remove the headlight Assy
2 screws you can see on top
1 screw down in the back on bottom
Then screws,cover,seal & bulb
Do not touch the bulbs glass
Jwant to know what this code mean po355
You have a COP Ignition Coil Misfire
If you had a PO305, I would try a new coil in cylinder #5
I wouldn't use the 355 unless you want to
Go to the Auto parts store. Buy one coil $60.00
1 bolt to install
V6 1,2,3 pass
4,5,6, driver side
V8 1,2,3,4 pass
5,6,7,8 driver side
Front to Back
Stay away from a dealer
If you have no vehicle knowledge what so ever ,go
down the street to a local shop. I can not see why you
can not do this repair, unless you don't own any metric tools
I just replace the coil packs in the 05 lincoln LS
I asked you get back to me on the other page.
You will have 1 or 2 COP Coils go bad every year
I also own a 2004 V8
Yes and no
I asked that you get the codes
PO301 thruPO308,the last # being the cylinder
If you get just a MIL Lamp and say a PO 303,you can
replace that coil and see what happens
The example I gave you on the ETC Failsafe, is not something a dealer
is aware of. People on this site have spent up to $4000.00 at a dealer
when my 1 bad coil, you install yourself, would have cost $70.00
You will get several codes that you ignore, on an LS and stay with the
coil swapping.
I hope you have a V8 or the intake will have to be removed to do some
coils.
You may want my phone #, so you can knock this down your self
Do you have a 7mm wrench and socket. That is all you need on a V8
To answer your question another way
If autozone gives you several codes,3 are coil codes ,then what?
I have the answer,it it not to replace all the coils.
How to install cargo net where to install last two
Unscrew all the net holders and relocate them further in the oposite direction. When you installed the net, you missed two holes on one side, installing the first screws in the "second" hole, as if you put your shirt on by putting the second button in the third hole. Search for holes on the opposite side of the net, uninstall the first screws and put them into the first hole and re-install each coordinating screws in each hole likewise. Contact you local Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealer for exact installation hole locations.
