Adjust or replace boot door switch. Check for vacuum leak in dash control unit, or bad door actuator.

05 Jag X-Type dashboard lights won't work.'Screens' light up but nothing else.If I bash the sides of the centre consel or the top of the dashboard they sometimes come on but only for a few seconds.

the screen connection is loose, it is a common fault after time, it will need to be taken out and repaired, its not a job for the layman needs the screen removing and the case of the screen removed to get to the ribbon on the lcd screen and then the ribbon removed and replaced with a new one. they go at the board end or the bend in the ribbon, on rare occasions they go at the part that attaches to the screen. either way it will need replacement of this part or you could get a used one to replace it, there have been a for on ebay and other sites.

Whining sound between 35 & 40 mph

is this car a all wheel drive? ie . 2.5 or 3.0 petrol. if so they suffer from transfer gearbox problems the normal being all the oil has leaked out from the drive flange and the transfer box bearings have failed, or it could just be a wheel bearing noisy support the car on stands with all 4 wheels of the ground and get someone to run the car up to 40 mph then walk round the car and listen to each wheel in turn. if it is a auto the gearbox is also suspect. good luck

I NEED TO OPEN THE TRUNK ON A 2005 JAGUAR XK8 THE OWNER LOST THE MASTER SECURITY KEY I HAVE THE VALEY KEY AND THE BATTERY IS DEAD !

Can you open the bonnet or hood and use jump leads to take power to the main fuse box. The red thick lead to the box, where it goes through part of the wing panel to the box. Put the earth to the engine. Be careful not to spark live to earth you might get burnt or damage the electrics. Then press the boot button. Again be careful.

How do i open my door when my car battry dies and my door locking is sticking, and it wont work by the key fob????

The biggest reason this happens is because no one uses the key to unlock doors. The cylinders in the key slots loose their lube and get stuck in a certain position(corrosion). Spray some lube in it(wd40) and work the key in and out. Spray more lube. Work it more. This may release your locks, but is no guaranty. You may have t have a lock smith come out and fix it.

Fitting a leather gaiter on an x type jag

that is simple. the shift knob is threaded on to the shift lever and you need to rotate it counterclockwise to remove. the gaiter is held in place with the trim ring that is attached by 4 clips in the corners. using a couple of popsicle sticks (or other thin, protected tool, so not to damage the wood trim, etc) you can get under the corner of the gaiter surround and gently pry upward. see illustration. hope this helps 25404563-ai1d4ga3barerea5mewg0gzj-5-0.jpg
