Sounds like a bad wheel bearing. Not too hard to replace just greasy. The bearing probably has a flat spot on it caused by lack of grease. If you don't replace it, it could ruin the wheel shaft. Sometime when you put a car on a lift and turn the steering wheel it won't make a sound because the weight of the car is not on the wheels.

Usually in the front of the motor by the radiator. It has two wires going to it and it looks like a small crunched together horn. If you still can't find it ask someone to blow the horn. Remember it's LOUD. Some cars have two horns.

The D nearest to N is the overdrive. In every day driving just leave it in overdrive. When climbing or decending steep hills you can downshift into Drive, this will prevent the transmission from constantly shifting between gears.

The port closest to the firewall would be the low side where you charge the line with R134 refrigerant. Use gloves and clear goggles to protect your eyes and skin when connecting. The quick connect fitting will ONLY fit on the low side so you can't connect it to the wrong connector (size won't match if you select the high side near the front of the car).
Place the AC on MAX while you charge the system. I recommend purchasing a quick fill kit that has the gauge built into the charging line so you can see the pressure when you let off the trigger. Don't let it approach the red or system will stop working (overcharging the line is not good) These can be purchased at auto parts stores and department stores.

I have a 2004 mercury sable .how do i change the
Loosen the bolt on the alternator until it slips freeing the belts tension, from there slip it off all the pulley's and put the new one on the same way. you may need a crow bar or something similar to apply force to the alternator to get the belt tight again while tightening the bolt you loosened earlier to loosen the belt. Make sure that every bolt or nut that you loosened is tight again. If your an average male; apply near all your strength onto the alternator to tighten the belt, just not all of it or you will over tighten it. If your a female: take your anger out on it, you won't break it, and if you do, i wouldn't want to get into a fight with you. BFD8B15.gif
