Where is the air bleed screw on the coolant lines for this car. I replaced the water pump and thermostat and now the stupid thing overheats all the time. Where is the bleeder screw location for it????
Please help
I had the same problem with my 2001 Cadillac Deville, like you I had replaced literally everything thermostat, water pump, radiator, temperature sensor, reservoir and cap, hoses etc....I didnt have any leakage. I was told I had air in my coolant system. After a lot of research and running across the right mechanic I was able to locate the bleeder and remove the air from my lines. No problem since. The bleeder is located on yhe left side of the radiator on the crossover, mines was sideways..Hope this helps someone before they spend money for new head gasket problems..Try this it helped me....

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Deville
Check drivers side in front of fuel tank along frame where fuel line runs, it should be along there, in the fuel line.

what kind of coolant does a cadillac deville use?
If you have the Northstar engine do not use ordinary coolant (the green stuff). You must use a long life silicate free coolant.
Dexcool was the original coolant used but there are many other brands to choose from now. It is usually a red-ish or pink-ish color (yellow if you choose the Prestone brand).
To clarify, make sure it states LONG LIFE or 150,000 miles on the label but more importantly it MUST be SILICATE FREE.
Mix the coolant 50/50 preferably with distilled water but clean tap water is ok.

how can i recharge the air conditioner? Where is the hose located?
Ok if you want to do a home repair in hopes of saving yourself a lot of money and with hopes your system is not in major trouble, here goes:
First step buy 3 types of 1 lb. cans of refrigerant R134a at a parts store, 1 can of leak detector freon combination, and if possible 1 can freon/air conditioning oil combination freon along with 1 can of straight r134a freon.
The store will sell you a charge hose with a cheap type of charge gauge attachment and fittings to attach to your system for the re-charge.
Providing your system is low on freon,First, with the vehicle running and the a/c on full cold, high fan, install the 1 lb. can of freon/oil combo first only charging through the low pressure side of the system never through the thin line high pressure side as the pressure from the high side can enter the cgharging freon can and explode it like a bomb,(this low side line is the larger hose and the low side charging hose fitting the parts store sells you will only screw onto the low side charge valve which is normally marked "low" on the top of the plastic dust cap that is factory installed(hand screwed) on the low side valve fitting.
Secondly after the oil/combo can is emptied into the low side and you of course are wearing mechanics hand protection gloves and eye protection googles, then and only then will you install the leak dector 1 lb. freon can combo.
Third you will install the last 1 lb can of r134a freon, however your vehicle will not allow the whole last pound of freon into its system by means of a pressure relief blow valve that will automatically blow off any excess pressure once the system over fills, the system typically holds approximately 2.75 lbs. of freon.
If you have successfully installed the above freon into the system it should be up and running providing the system is in fairly good working order, by that I mean it may have a very slow leak that allowed the freon tio originally escape in the first place causing you to refill it, and if it does have a leak the leak detector die that you installed into the system should leak out from wherever it may be escaping from, indicating the place of needed repair by means of a red or blue, or whatever other designated coloration the die gives out from the leaking area.
Please note: Not all home charging techniques typically work as there are many mechanical failure factors in an a/c system that may require a certified a/c technician to determine exactly why your system is not working should the home remedy fail.
I hope this helps you and remember to always work safe with eye and hand protection especially around freon gases which become extremely cold and can cause frost bite when contacting with the bare skin.

where is ecu fuse in 01 cadillac deville
I see 2 fuses for the computer (powertrain comtrol module, PCM). They are located in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehicle in the engine compartment (see picture below). Also below is a diagram of the fuse layout by number. The fuses I am talking about is one in the number 8 position (says PCM battery) and the other is in the number 19 position (says PCM ignition). This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you don't and would like a copy of it, you can email me at [email protected] with your make, model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. No worries, no cost for it. I hope this helps and good luck.

What does it mean when it says service theft system?
Hi.
A problem with the theft system has triggered the service test system light.
The best thing to do is going to the nearest dealer place and performing a theft system learning, some theft system malfunctions may end up with the car not starting.
Here the learning procedure:
Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times f 3 times in less than 30 minutes
The vehicle will be ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code next time the ignition is turned from OFF to START (crank )
Turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle and start the engine so that the vehicle will learn the Passlock data again
You may need to jump the battery or to use a charger as the procedure may drain the battery.
If that does not work go to the dealer. They will scan and reset security system and perform a re learning using a diagnostic tool.

2001 Deville info for me to check coolant; I've added a little to the resovour tank which satisfies the info system, however, this added amount will usually be expelled when driven at operating speed. Could this be a bad sensor or computor adjustment problem?
Your coolant level switch at coolant tank may be bad, click here to see.
