The engine is cranking want start
check for fuel .? spray staring fluid into throtle body then crank if engine runs then stalls you have fuel related problem ( fuel pump) if no start you have ignition problem ( coil or distributor check for spark use a screw driver insert into spark plug wire at spark plug end hold about 1/4 away from gronded engine and crank engine see if spark jumps gap if no spark could be coil or crank sensor
Wheres the fuel pump on a 1992 impreza import?
It is in tank. Take out back seat squabs and rear luggage carpet. There should be a removeable panel usually black on the floor. the pump and sender are under this. Change pump for a Walbro 255 LpH but leave the original filter sock. It is better than the Walbro one.
CAR STARTS THEN DIES OUT,
you could have a bad MAF sensor...try unplugging it and driving it around and
see what happens. also make sure airfilter is clean. check fuel pressure if above does not work! the fuel cut valve may be the culprit. if it is the maf sensor, you can go to any auto parts store and buy a can of maf sensor spray to clean it. just follow directions on can. do not hit center of maf sensor with the straw on spray can, for these buggers cost over 100.00 new. unless you get one from e-bay or a junk yard. good-day! and check all vacuum lines good.

There is still a relay you can check in the same fuse/relay box you checked the fuse in. swap it with the windshield wiper relay or one that is of the same design size and color. This will rule out power issues. You can also unplug the fan and run a power and ground wire from the battery to the fan connector to momentarily hot wire the fan. If it sounds nice and quiet with out growling, only the steady hum/drone of the fan then its ok. Just remember that the A/C fan only comes on when the A/C is on and the primary engine fan only comes on when the vehicle is getting to its thermostatic activation point. I hope this info helps.

Where is the dipstick for
Hi
Sorry I'm being a bit vague but it is years since I've seen an auto. Get a torch and look at the back of the engine bay both sides down at the side of the block at the back . I think it is on the left standing at the front of the car looking at the windscreen . Offside in other words. (Drivers Side) If not there just look at the other side. I know it is difficult to see as it is just a metal stick . No yellow plastic on it. That is why I say use a torch because it is buried down at the back.
Again sorry for the vague reply but it is years since I've dealt with the auto. By the way. If the Auto transmission fluid is anything other than perfectly clean then something is wrong. Unlike engine oil , Auto gearbox oil should be perfectly clean. There are a lot of little valves in the bottom called the valve body. You only need a speck of dirt or grit to start it malfunctioning. So expect it to be very clean no matter how old the oil is. If not then expect a big bill.

Theres no power getting to the switch. Did check the fuses? This could be the source of your problem, if the fuses are ok then the contacts in the switch may be worn, you may have to replace the switch.
4 wheel drive
Hi,
If this is the case then you have a transfer box problem and will need it repaired or replaced, the 4WD system in these is constantly engaged and if you are only driving with the front wheels then you have a serious problem within the gearbox/transfer case.
Thanks
Jason
