Engine service light 2002 mercury villager
I had that happening too, the diagnostic was random misfire. I didn't know what cylinder so the distributor cap, the rotor and spark plugs wires were changed it helped. The light still comes on now and again.
2002 merc villager speedometer doesn't work, tach OK
The speedometer is electronic and controlled by a micro processor, the needle is operated by a special DC electric motor called a "stepper" motor, this little motor can cause this problem as well as the Vehicle speed sensor on the transmission (see photo below), either part can cause the problem, the cruise not working would lead me to believe the speed sensor is defective, but you should have a Check Engine light on and a fault code for the sensor, do you have either? Autozone and others do the fault code test for free, ask for an OBD2 fault test. Here is the picture of the sensor I mentioned.
How do I remove the spare tire from my Mercury Villager GS
Chances are the tire has "stuck" itself to the bottom of the frame of the vehicle. This happens when a new tire comes into contact with a clean metal surface and remains there under pressure for a period of time.
If you've unscrewed the holder, and can see that the mechanism is loose from the tire, then use your foot or a 2 x 4 or pipe or something and try to wedge/lever against the tire to break it loose. Make sure you arm, leg, foot, or had is not under the tire as it will likely fall to the ground, and those things are heavy.
How does the overdrive work and whats it for
Overdrive is your highest gear used at freeway speeds to reduce engine RPM and enhance fuel economy. If you have a towing option button (usually on dash or shift handle) make sure that it is not activated, otherwise you will not get the benefit of overdrive.
Driver and passenger power windows quit
Do they not work with either switch(does passenger side work with passenger side switch?)If so you may have a bad connection on the switch on the drivers door.If not you may have a bad relay or fuse.A mistake alot of people make in the winter time is try to put the window down when they are frozen shut. You can easily break the plastic parts in a power window this way.
