2002 Mercury Sable Questions & Answers
I have a 2002 sable that sounds like a silverwAre drWer.
I can contribute a little to this but there are a few things that you have done that maybe you did not understand. Not saying this is not salvageable but there are procedures.
With the serpetine belt off, you can turn the compressor electric clutch. Without power the clutch is suppose to free wheel on bearings until electric is allowed to flow to the clutch and lock or engage it to drive the compressor. You should feel roughness in the compressor clutch if its bearings are bad. Most remove with left handed threads but sometimes rust to the compressor shaft.
If you can lock the electric clutch(may not be 12 volt) you can manually turn the compressor to feel roughness. Be aware that compressors take oil and each maker uses different oil weights.
Next, you need to borrow a vacuum machine to empty the system and since moisture will turn to ice, it needs to have negative vacuum pressure.
When you refill the system you found out that too little or too much Freon will not work. You look for the a/c label on the car and it will show the ozs. you need. A postal type scale can help.
While you have the serpetine belt off, check the other pulleys for roughness. Hope this helps. A compressor leaking oil will bring noise and burn out bearings. Hope this helps.
Heater not working on 2002 mercury sable gs
first check the fuse to the blower motor. if good then it may be the blower motor may be bad it is under the dash on the passenger side. If that is good then it may be your heater core
What does the code P1633 mean
P1633 Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low (Ford/Lincoln/Mercury)
It means that at sometime in the past the battery voltage was below specs at the PCM and set the code. The battery provides 12 volts to power everything, the car probably sat for a while and probably took a long time to start or had to be jumped off to start.... when the voltage got below 9 volts it set the code.
The code is more of a indicator for info than anything.. the computer learns as you drive and all the code is saying is that it lost it's power to itself and can loose that learned information.
Have a shop inspect the battery for being weak or dying as well as your battery connections.. if all is fine, I wouldn't worry. You can have the error reset by a mechanic or auto parts store. If you are paitent enough, the computer will reset itself over time.
I have a 200 Mercury
No fuse just for that door , has one fuse that power's all door lock's. Wiring problem or the door switch or the lock actuator . Look inside the rubber flex boot from the body to the door , opening an closing the door a few hundred time's can cause wires to break. If no broken wire's there , pull the switch off the door panel an test power an ground circuit's . Videos on youtube showing how to diagnose these type problems .
My 2002 Mercury Sables gives a "bucking" sensation
Yes Brother, I know that experience. Have a computer test done to find which cylinder is misfiring and replace that fuel injector. It's gone dead and we call this a dead cylinder. Seems like it runs fine, until you hit overdrive. Then it feels like you're running on one square wheel. A steady thump.
Well i got a 1994
If you have topped up the fluid whilst hot and it still has this problem then you have a gearbox fault hence the check light. It seems suspicious to me that the last owner told you the light was nothing. Some gearboxes have a filter you can change out which can solve gear changing faults.

The blend door that regulates the airflow over the heater core may be stuck in the AC position. It is inside the case and is most difficult to get to. There may be a YouTube video that may help you locate it and test it.
