Complete electrical turn off while driving
Sounds like a corroded connection somewhere...where is hard to say without knowing what wires you "wiggled"...could also be ground from neg post to body...I have seen fuseable links do the same thing...sounds strange but I have seen it. Also seen a hot wire up against metal shutting it down..wiggle it and takes it just enough away from metal to allow normal operation again.
In other words...could be a lot of things.
From your description, I would start with the hot post at battery and follow that wire...same with ground.
Power windows on 85 mercury marquis not working
Hi my name is Tom and I can help you.
All of the doors have a motor which connects to the window switch on your door. If you remove the door panel, you will see the motor. You then can find a used or new motor and that should solve your problem.
If you are looking for help, I can give you all you need to see the job done.

The best thing for you to do, is get a hayes manual from Advance or another dealer. We can give you the firing order but even as long as I have been doing this work, and the is 28 years, I still get confused with the wires. The hayes manual is only about 17 bucks and it has the pictures that will make if very clear. you have to start at the right point and follow the diagram.
Hope this helps, maybe the store will let you borrow the book if they were the store you bought the parts from.

Lets start by inspecting your battery and the connections.
How dirty and corroded are your battery terminals?
Be careful not to touch both terminals at the same time or ground out you + terminal when taking it off with a wrench.
Get a wire brush and remove the battery terminal one at a time, negative - one first and after that do the same to the + one . clean the inside and out.
They sell a terminal cleaner at the auto store that will do both inside and out .
Pay particular attention to the - one ,this is likely your problem.
Im having you start with the easiest most likely fix first.
If this fixes it great, if it doesn't, get back to me and we will go for step two.
Good luck, Robert
