1995 Honda Odyssey - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Where is the thermostat on a 1995 Honda Odyssey?
Check where the top radiator hose comes into the rad.Trace it back to the motor, it should be right there at that end of the hose. Because when the vehicule heats up, the thermostat opens up and the top rad hose gets warm to the touch. Some cars have them turned on the side instead of horizontal.
Green drive light is blinking
The transmission computer has detected a problem and set a trouble code in memory. You can go to a dealership ($$$), or you can go to a major auto parts store and have them read out the code(s) for free. With the code(s) you can decide to go back to a dealership, find a transmission shop, or do the work yourself.
Lit Engine symbol with "check"
this is the "check engine" light. It comes on when the engine computer detects a fault in one of its sensors or has sensed a problem with a system. A trouble code is also set in the computer's memory. Any major auto parts store has a code reader and will read your codes for free. With the code, you can determine where to start looking for the problem. The light is your friend. It is letting you know of a problem early on so you can deal with it before engine or system damage occurs.
Speedmeter dont work ,the milege
Sounds like you have a bad vehicle speed sensor which will also cause your odometer (the mileage guage) not to function as well. The sensor mounts near the back of the transmission
Oil leak
If it's leaking from the oil filter spacer.( the 2 inch metal ring that attaches to your block, and has two rubber hoses coming out of it, and your oil filter attaches to) There is an o-ring between the spacer and the block. Take off your oil filter, remove the oil filter stud with 1 3/16" socket( or metric equivalent) and the spacer will come off. I found all the auto parts stores around me said that the o-ring was a dealer item. I bought a FRAM PH3387A oil filter and removed the o-ring on that. It fit perfectly, snug down your oil filter stud to specs, then install your oil filter. Double check that the oil filter is not double gasketed, and your are fixed!
Engine cranks will not start
There are many things that can cause this condition. First you must isolate which system is malfunctioning. Check for spark at the spark plugs to see if the ignition system is at fault. If the spark plugs have good spark, then you must check fuel pressure to see if the fuel delivery system is at fault. If you have good fuel pressure then you must check for injector pulse at the fuel injectors to see if the fuel injection system is at fault. If all of these things are ok. Then you must check the compression in all of the cylinders to see if an engine mechanical failure is causing the problem. Once the failing system is identified, then you can test that system to find out what is causing it to malfunction. Only after all this happens, can anyone tell you why your car won't start.
Car has rough idel when
Hi
It sounds like an air issue, I would bet on it being the air mass sensor also known as the MAF sensor, very common on any modern car. This regualtes the air to fuel mix and if faulty the car will behave irratically.
You can ofetn clean the air mass sensor with carb cleaner, this part is located on the cars air system, you should be able to see a wire coming from one of the pipes with a plug on the end, remove the part and clean, but do not touch it directly and do not dry it. let to dry naturally.
Hope this helps

Car has rough idel when in park or at a stand
First, is the check engine light on? If so, have the codes read at Autozone for free if you do not have access to a code reader. Furthermore, If not, then precede as follow, change your Idle Air Control (IAC) and if you have not replaced you cables then I would suggest that as well. If your vehicle is equipped with coils then you should receive a misfire message on the diagnostic tool/scanner. But given the age of your vehicle I would change the coils as well.
Bottom line, if your check engine light is on, have the vehicle analyzed with a scanner. If your vehicle is registering no code or no light malfunction then I would precede with changing the IAC, if equipped and the cables.
Good Luck
My Odyssey 1995 problem is now; after turning
It sounds like you're have a ignition harness(switch) problem. The igniton harness(switch) on this odyssey are known to go bad. The spring in the ignition
harness(switch) sometime worn out or doesn't lock into the right position. I'll start by replace this first.
HONDA ODYSSEY 1995: WHERE IS RADIATIOR FAN SWITH
the fan is supposed to remain on until the engine temp falls to a certain temp. your problem is with the monitoring circuitry that is supposed to tell the fan to shut off. same circuitry leaves the fan off on start up until the engine reaches a certain temp.
My oil light comes on after i come to a stop after
either your oil pump is not putting out enough pressure, or your oil sending unit is bad. much cheaper and easier to replace the sending unit which is just a little switch screwed into the block with a wire connector. if the pump is bad, generally your engine is also about at the end of its life, so before you replace the pump consider a buying and installing lower mileage used engine or a rebuilt exchange.
1995 Honda Odyssey: abs light
The ABS light is a generic warning light for the braking system. So the first thing you should check is the brake fluid level. If the level is ok then you will have to check the status of the brake pads - they might be worn out. If none of them are the cause then you must take your car to a service center for an indepth testing of the entire system - braking is a security system that should be never left in a dubious state.
