For the 3.0 ohv engine follow the upper hose the the housing on the intake manifold. It will be behind that housing. On the 3.0 DOHC engine. Follow the lower hose to the water outlet housing. Mercury sable 1999 shift gear wont move into gear

Check to see if the Brake lights come when you step on the brakes. If they do not, your problem is a switch mounted on the brake pedal lever. This switch often gets knocked out of position by the drivers feet. Or the switch can also be broken. The signal from this switch will release the gearshift. Please comment on my info.

The O2 sensor on Bank 1 may be bad. Some Models had a problem with the A/C drain leaking on the sensor and different drain hoses were available. The engine is running overly rich on one side. You can have additional problems with an air leak. The air leak makes the engine run rich in trying to compensate for the excess air. Test with a spray bottle of water on the seams and Vacuum controls while the engine is running. A change in RPM will indicate a leak. There have been problems with some designs of intake manifolds in their construction. Change the correct O2 sensor first and watch for the drain tube which may be leaking on it. If no success, then look if you have the clamshell 2 piece intake. The gasket can detriorate over time.

I turn the headlights on and the car shuts off.

it is most likely a bad ground on the headlight circuit. really common if the car has been in a front end collision. could be the switch but highly unlikely. a bad ground makes the headlghts feed power backwards through the system and it is interfearing with a engine component probably fuel pump relay

Where is the fuse for the ac on a 2000 mercury sable?

It's under the hood in the engine compartment. It's a relay. Your owners manual will lead you to the right relay. Good Luck

Do you have to pull the engine to replace 1999 Sable 3.0 DOHC timing chain?

You can pretty much look at the front of the motor & ask yourself, can all the necessary parts come off with no clearance to workI would say dropping the motor out the bottom complete with transaxle& subframe, as a complete unit would be necessaryThe question is --why the timing chain, never changed oil very often since the car was new & ruined the engine? The cam actuators & cams are clogged with sludge, that should neverbeen allowed to happenNeed more than just the chains replaced

How do I replace the drivers side window on a 1999

remove the inner door panel, unhook the window glass from the regulator that lowers and raises the window,, lift it up by hand and glide the window outside the door, towards the outside of the car, it fits easier that direction and leaves more room for play,, install it the same way , from the outside in,, in removing the glass, some have a hole with a vinyl bolt holding them on, and others have a double sided tape, the bolts are easy , the tape is a little tougher,, us a thin putty knife or blade to remove it

Car won't start

I had the same issue with a 98 dodge diesel I got rid of the truck only to find out that if I would have gotten the seals on my fuel rail replaced it would have solved the problem. Apparently when ever I turned the truck off I was losing compression in the fuel system, good info a few months to late.

99 town car antitheft light flashing fast , no fuel pump signal,no injector signal and no spark, had new key programed and still same problem, help.

Sounds like the module in the cluster or the sensor in the lock cylinder has failed. The module gets a signal from the lock cylinder to know if the correct key is being used. You may need a dealer to fix this.
