My 95 volvo will not

well its going to be electrical, so check spark after it heats up and dies then check input to the coils make sure they are getting signal to fire. might be a sensor heating up and quitting on you, most likly if its a sensor its the crank sensor. have autozone plug in the computer and check for codes this will help you head in the right dirrection. test retest then reoplace parts this rule will save you alot of money inthe long run.

95 940 non turbo-will crank

May have a faulty air/fuel ratio sensor or o2 sensor, throttle body may need adjusting or have a stretched spring or there may be grime restricting air flow so it's flooding it.

Sunroof switch stopped working, sunroof

  1. Most part store should have this avaiable
  2. dont forget to check the fuse
  3. as far as manually closing dont know of anyway that is near simple
  4. Open the hood on your Volvo 940 and loosen the negative battery cable with your socket set. Take the negative battery cable off after you have loosened the nut.
  5. Find your Volvo's sunroof switch on the overhead console between the visors. Locate the small retaining screw at the back of the window-controller button's plastic housing.

  6. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove that screw. Set it aside in and then remove the plastic housing.

  7. Find the wiring harness plug in the back of the switch. Press in the two tabs on the sides of the plug and pull it out. The two tabs are on the sides of the plug. Pull the old switch out and set the new one in place with your fingers.

  8. Plug the wiring harness into the back of your Volvo's new sunroof switch. Hold the new switch up and replace the plastic housing. Install the screw to hold the plastic in place.

  9. Replace your Volvo's negative battery cable.

Trunk will not open !

The trunk lock is incorporated in the central locking system. This means that you can either lock or unlock the trunk by means of either of the front doors. You can also operate the trunk lock directly with the master key even if the vehicle is centrally locked.

Are you sure it is the Master Key? Try the key in the glove box lock. The power door locks should unlock the trunk for you turn the key if it is right over to the right turn it right over to the left . you turn the key to far right to stop the boot been opened when the doors are not closed.

How high do the RPMs go up? It could and usually is your idle air control valve(IAC). In the 940, it is not bolted into the intake, rather it bolted elsewhere underneath the intake and two rubber vacuum hoses connect it to the engine intake. If these hoses are ruptured, the your engine will rev up at idle. Also it could just be the IAC itself malfunctioning.

i don't have access to the owners manual in your glove box, but if i did i would surmise that the car is telling you that your brakes are failing and you need to get to a mechanic and have him look at it and put his hands on it before you have a nasty accident.

Fuel gage not working. Only a smsll light seen.

As long as the car is running fine it's safe to say the fuel pump does not need to be replaced. However the fuel tank sending unit may need to be replaced assuming the fuel gauge itself isn't at fault. First check your owners manual if available for your fuse block info and check fuses then I'd look into the sending unit. Let me know if you need help with that

On my 1995 Volvo 940 Turbo the oil light stays on

If all else is correct and the wiring to the sensor is correct and undamaged then the sensor has failed. It's not at all uncommon and is fairly cheap. I don't recall exactly where the sensor is located, but it's screwed into the engine block and has a single wire coming from it.
