If yours is fitted with the 4.5 litre 'inline' straight 6 engine, cylinder number 6 is easy to find. Stand with the belts and pulleys nearest to you and the Transmission (Gearbox) furthest away from you. Number ONE is nearest to you then number 2 and so on. That means Number 6 is the cylinder furthest away from you.

I think you will find there is a button in the glove box that disconnects the power to the boot open button by the driver's knee.. Another thought is that the boot rubber seals really stick tight. When you use the key and hear the click, pull up really hard. Finally, the rear seat centre armrest has access to the boot on mine. Shine a torch in there and pull the emergency release lever on the underside of the boot lid. You may have to fashion a loop of rope on the end of a wooden dowel to reach it, or open out a wire hanger.

That type of job is a job for the dealership. You need the $6,000 scan tool computer to program it all after fitting it. It is not a DIY at home job. Or if you want to cut costs, go to a local auto-electrician. On a GX-470, I wouldn't as they are so technology filled!

Take it to the dealership. One word 'dealership'. They can hook it up to a pressurized smoke machine and find where the leak is if there is one. There factory scan tool computer diagnostics is also far more informative. Connect it up to a High Level Scan Tool and read the codes and live data. May be a bad connection on the ABS sensor or the brake wear sensor depending on the model.

When was the last time the Lexus Dealership serviced it? It could be many things and it needs hooking up to the Lexus Scan Tool Computer. When in park, the gearbox and drive should be locked.

Fouled spark plug or plugs or bad ignition coil or coils. Your OBD2 TEster should tell you which cylinders to check.

That is a Dealership job. All that stuff needs fixing properly, especially the fob. Did you change the battery? I even let the dealership do that. Try flooding the lock with WD40, a really good wash out for free up and clean the pins in the lock. I have a 2005 ES330.

Question edited for clarity Not easy as it is HID. It is not normally the bulb, but the transformer unit. Details in the link. Yes, it CAN be done without pulling the bumper, fender and entire headlight assembly. I just completed a HID bulb replacement on my 02 SC430. Took about two hours and included a copious amount of swearing. It is a PITB process that is largely done by braille. Sausage fingered individuals should not even try. The clearance is very small - just enough to get your hand into position. if you google search agains "sc430 headlight service manual" you will find a pdf of the headlight service procedure. I largely followed those instructions, but I have a few hints... 1. Do the passenger side first. Removing the air cleaner gives you some ability to see what you are doing. That lets you learn the process before you go do the driver side "blind". 2. The service manual did not mention a few wires that are present. The leads for the amber indicator light stretches tight across the HID moisture cap. You need to pull the amber indicator bulb assembly first. Fortunately, that is a simple twist and pull. Once the amber lamp was free, I disconnected its harness and set the bulb aside in a safe location. 2b. A pair of wires were physically attached to the HID cover. These make it extremely difficult to maneuver the cover, particularly when putting the cover back on. I ended up physically detaching those wires from the cover permanently. Made life a lot easier and will make replacing the HID bulbs simpler next time. 3. The HID bulb socket easily detaches. The wire spring bale is hinged and won't fly away when you get the two ends free. Those are freed with a squeeze and pull movement. You can do one side at a time. 4. Make certain the spring bale is swung out so it does not impeded placement of the new HID bulb. 5. Because you are doing most of the bulb insertion blind, it is difficult to avoid touching the quartz jacket to something. Practice with the old bulb first. Once in place, you gently rotate the bulb until its notches allow it to seat. You can feel that pretty easily. I used the "MAXLUX HID Xenon Bulb D2C (D2S/D2R) 5000K" bulbs obtained via amazon. Yes, that price is indeed for a PAIR of bulbs. I thought it was for a single bulb due to the low price and ended up with four bulbs. The new bulbs light up much brighter than my aging 02 HID bulbs. A slight bluer than the OEM Lexus bulbs, roughly the same color as the HID's on the Aston. Longevity is, of course, yet to be evaluated. Success. Pull the cables back off the battery and check out how clean they are. My guess is that there is corrosion where the flat side of the battery bolt sits inside the cable itself. Use a pliers and pull the bolts out of the booted cables and check the surfaces.The install of a battery requires more than the battery itself, also the connections involvedVery important to not overtighten battery bolts, just snug up slightly to ensure electrical contact. The bolts are made of metal, the thread is made up of lead/aluminum material...you DO NOT want to strip these threads or else that expensive battery will be garbage.

I always call my local parts store (on a weekday trust me on that part) and say I have a .... I need oil and filter or transmission fluid and filter how many quarts and type (weight if not written on Fill cap) do I need? They look it up and tell you it's in there computer for shops like mine I just tell them what year I have and send me the fluid and filters (unless I did a custom job then see approximately how much came out and buy 2 more quarts than what you believe you pulled out and add the amount -the 2 extra start it for a few seconds and check level when engine off(for oil) running for transmission

if tested faulty and new one not working check new one -new doesnt mean free from defect --check wiring- battery has full charge -harness connections --rescan for any codes
