I have a 1997 AUDI a4 2.6L which needs a new
2.6 l engine is similar in dimensions and using the same transmission as the 2.8 l so you can swap it directly - no modifications. The transmission is a ZF 5HP19 model.
The only local source (no importing) from which you can buy an good one is a scrapyard - you will need to go thru all of them.

I put a new head
Since you just installed the head unit, this should be easy-popping is almost always a ground issue, so look there first and if possible, you can ground it to the negative battery post for the best possible ground signal. If that is impractical, make the ground as short as possible-you should be using good wire and connections need to be clean and tight.

My Audi A4 went onto
Wait one hour before attempt to put again the correct code!!!
Now the radio is under anti-theft protection.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have the security anti-theft code for your Audi radio from the car manufacturer, or from an Audi dealer!
The sequence of programming for 1997 Audi A4 radio is:
1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.
3. By the #1 key you will set up the first safe code digit.
4. By the #2 key you will set up the second safe code digit.
5. By the #3 key you will set up the third safe code digit.
6. By the #4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit.
7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed. The radio is now ready for use!

Where is the Fuse Box in the Audi A4
For Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand drive vehicles). Driver's door open. On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.
