I have a new battery
1. Remove the battery wires and thoroughly clean all connections with a wire brush, that may take care of the problem.
2. If it doesn't, check to see if the charging system is good. You will need a digital voltmeter for this. To check the charging system, place one lead on the positive terminal, and another on the negative, with the engine running and lights off. You should get at least 14 volts. (You may need to have a helper accelerate slightly to get the 14 volts.) If not, the charging system is bad. Take the alternator off, and have the auto parts store test it before buying a new one.

I got locked INSIDE my 2001 Lexus LX470 today. I
This is the anti theft function working as it should. Your husband needed to override it with the key. The command told the car to lock down. Because the key was not in the car the anti theft set off the alarm and locked down the engine as well.
This is exactly what you would want the car to do if you left it locked on the street with your windows down while shopping. Otherwise someone could reach in the window, unlock the door, slide in and start hot wiring the car.
These lock functions are programmable and can be changed at the dealership.

How to adjust Lexus LX 470 parking brake to hold
Pull the wheels off the back of the car. remove the rubber plug on the rotor hub and rotate the rotor to where the hole is on the bottom and look in there. you should be able to see a sprocket. take a long flathead screwdriver and move it up or down until the rotor does not freely move. then turn it two times in the opposite direction. do this for both sides then you should be good to go! good luck!

Change spare tire
Put the car on a level ground, with the transmission in PARK. Lossen the nuts of the tire to change. Chuck back-tires if changing front, or chuck front-tires if changing back-tires. Jack up the car enough to raise the concerned tire off the ground. Remove nuts, and pull out the tire. Put in spare tire.
Hand tighten the nuts a considerable, but you might use the wrench to tighten a bit because this is a big/heavy car. Lower the car, and again tighten the nuts securely in a diagonal pattern with the wrench- two grunts used to be the rule of the thumb.

How to Replace the AC filter on my Lexus 01 LX 470
Perform steps 1-3 first to inspect whether you have the access doors or not before ordering filters!!!
Did this little project this evening. Figured I'd write it up.
5 Easy steps:
1. Remove glove box door by removing both screws at the bottom of the door.2. First pop the the little flap with a fuse/relay out of the black plastic shield in the upper portion of the glove box opening. Next push it back behind the shield through the opening. Next remove the 3 screws holding the shield in place. Don't pull this shield out yet!! Read step 3 first.3. Gently pull the shield out. Be careful because the glove box light is still plugged into this part. It is located on the right side of the shield. Once it is pulled out slightly, unplug the bulb from the harness and now you can fully remove the part.4. Now you can see the vertical cover where the air filters reside. The cover is about 5 inches tall and about 1 inch wide. It has 2 tabs on the upper portion of the cover. Squeeze these tabs towards each other and pull the cover off.5. The filters are now exposed. They are stacked on top of each other. Pull the first filter out then lift the next filter up and pull out. Put new filters back in and reverse the procedure.
Parts needed:
2 Cabin air filters (Toyota PN 88568-60010 if you drop CDan a pm)
1 Phillips screw driver
Time needed:
No more than 15 minutes

Vehicle stability control
run the fault codes to check for sensor and wiring faults. The ABS and the stability system use the same sensors at the wheels so it could be an air gap problem at a sensor or a loose/ broken wire /connection. Check wheel bearings for condition and adjustment as that will affect the air gap on the front wheels ( especially on turns when the hub is allowed to move out of alignment from the side load of the turn)
