2001 Cadillac Eldorado Questions & Answers
Why is my car giving an incorrect error?
Check or replace the pressure switch on the ac dryer. It is shutting off and not allowing the compressor to run. This based on the system having the right amount of R134A.
Some lights stay on when the key is removed like the gear indicator light. What can cause this and can I add a battery toggle so I dont have to disconnect the battery every time I leave the car
I wouldn't do that given the complexity of electronic modules an data bus communication networks on this vehicle . Disconnecting batteries can cause modules to go to sleep an not wake back up . The ignition switch is an input to the BCM - body control module , the BCM turns on relays powering up systems on the vehicle .
The BCM executes the high power mode by grounding the controlled power relay coil control circuit of the CONTROLLED POWER relay whenever the BCM is awake. This circuit also is grounded for 15 minutes after you turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position in order to obtain the RAP function. After 15 minutes elapse, the BCM enter a sleepstate and transitions to the low power mode. The components under controlled power then receive any necessary voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit of the BCM. If the BCM is in the low power mode, and the BCM detects that the current exceeds approximately 2 amperes, the BCM wakes up and re-enters the high power mode. If the vehicle remains inactive with the ignition in the LOCK position and without any BCM wake-ups for a period of 3 days, the BCM deactivates the low power mode. The following components are under controlled power: There are probably DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM . A simple code reader can not read these , an has nothing to do with the check engine light .
Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems You may have been lucky so far disconnecting the battery .
Theft deterent wont crank on my 2001 cadillac eldorado
The antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

How to replace a 2001 Cadillac Eldordo front bumper
If you look around on the backside of the bumper, you should be able to find the bolts that hold it on, same with the grill. Look aound the bolts are pretty obvious. Just take out what you need to remove the bumper, a little tugging and pulling on the bumper might help find bolts that are easy to miss.. look around, you will find them.
'01ElDorado... how many 02 sensors&where? I've replaced three, changed plugs, but car still misses. Error code:"random misfire". where are the fuel filters; is there one in the tank ,also. Thank yo
many people mistakingly believe that misfires are the results of ignition problems only. There are several other variables that have to be considered . They are fuel pressure and injector performance. If the fuel pressure is too low then the injectors squirt instead of atomising an the resultant air/ fuel mixture will not combust properly resulting in misfiring. Plugs used in the engines manufactured in the last 12 years will generally out last the engine . Quality HT leads if separated correctly will last many years . But injectors which are subject to electronic problems and dirty fuel (gum and tars not removed by filters) will be the culprit in most engine misfires. So have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check the fuel pressure regulator, pump and filter. have the injectors cleaned and regularly maintained .
Remove and replace drivers side power window switch
I am assuming its the drivers door window you are speaking of....
The drivers door has the master window switch w/lockout. The entire assembly must be replaced. The individual switches on the drivers door can't be replaced by themselves. Some GM vehicles allow the panel with the switch assembly to be removed without removing the door panel. However, most require the door panel to be removed for access to the window switch assembly. The master door/window switch assembly is not cheap, by the way.
I would check/replace the window relay first. Usually located under the dash, or under one of the seats.
Might just be the window motor on the problem window.
