Check the power wiring running to the starter for exposed wire or loose insulation. I've run into the same thing on a few Chrysler vehicles where the insulation on the starter wire just melts off and blows fuses like crazy

A/C Compressor & Serpentine Belt

I have a 1999 Plymouth Breeze, 4 cyl. auto front wheel drive. The compressor locked up and the serpentine belt needs replaced. Is there a way to bypass the A/C compressor and just replace the belt so the car will run, but will not have A/C?
Thanks!

#1 are you sure it jumped time?#2 how do you know this? if in fact it has jumped time you will need to have the timing belt replaced.the average interval for replacement is 60,000-80,000.it is also a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time as it is driven by the timing belt.

The Serpentine Belt doesnt fit 99 plymouth breeze 2.4L with a/c

I routed the belt around the c/s,a/c,alt+ under the idler. I understand there is a tensioner on the alternator to tighten it. But still, this 53"belt is way too long,it looks like it should be a 50" or 49"belt. Nothing has been changed on this car engine wise. All stores are telling me its a 53" belt for the make+model, but its way too long. Can anyone help?

I thought the same thing on my 1998 plymouth breeze but it was because I didn't route the belt correctly. Maybe this will help:891861b.jpg

my transmission wont shift, the speedometer quit

my transmission wont shift, the speedometer quit working at the same time in my 1999 plymoth breeze. It is an automatic transmission. Before the problem happened the transmission gave a **** and the speedometer quit and the transmission seems to be stuck in second gear. The fluid level is at its correct level.

Most likely your speed sensors are bad, this causes the transmission to seem like its "stuck" in second gear or in "limp" mode. I can also be your TCM (transmission control module). But from your description, it's most likely the speed sensors located on the top of the transmission. Make sure you replace them with an exact replacement are they are not interchangeable.
Hope this helps.

99 Plymouth Breeze air conditioning not blowing cold air

The AC in my 99 Plymouth Breeze will not blow cold air. I have a pressure guage that shows high pressure when the AC is off. The pressure drops right away to within the correct operating pressure when the AC is turned on. My brother says this means the compressor is working properly, and that the system is charged properly. He thinks it may be a duct gate not opening. Any ideas where to start?

Hello my name is Israel and I will try to help. Using the I would ask you to try something really quick. Open up the low side valve and see if freon start to come out. It should come out in the form of a white cloud. If it doesn't, then the problem is that you have a leak and will need to find it. The compressor will still give you a pressure reading but it may not have any freon. Check all your connections and especially the stems in the valves. Also be sure you check your condenser. You can buy a leak finder to help you. This will save you time and money. Good Luck.

I have a 1999 Plymouth Breeze, 2.4L, Double

I have a 1999 Plymouth Breeze, 2.4L, Double Overhead Cam. Just replaced water pump and timing belt. After reassembling everything the car now idles rough, stalls when coming to a stop. Almost sounds like a miss fire when idling. However, car runs smooth at highway speeds. Double checked timing marks and they are lined up like they should be. Thinking it could be plugs and plug wires, I replaced those too. Also cleaned the throttle body. Car still idles rough and stalls. Can anyone tell me what may be causing the car to idle rough and stall? Thanks in advance!

Dirty or disconnected IAC (Idle air control) valve, dirty mass air meter (Maf) or being slightly out of time can all cause idle/stall issues.
