I'm attempting to replace the serpentine belt on my 2000 Isuzu Trooper, and even after loosening the tensioner, it is way too tight to install. I've confirmed that it is the right belt. Should I attempt to loosen the entire tensioner assembly, or attempt to pry the belt over the idler pulley to complete the install?
I had the same problem when trying to replace the serpentine belt on my 2001 Trooper. The Maintenance book was very vague and I couldn't tell exactly how the tension was taken off the belt, but it did clearly identify the tensioner pulley. I first removed the pulley and looked for some kind of slot that would give me the adjustment I needed, but no slotted adjustment is present on the 01 Trooper. I had to do some research so I pulled of the tensioner assembly and found that there is a spring coil which keeps tension on the belt constant, and eliminates any belt alignment problems.
The Litens style tensioner uses a spring to apply pressure towards the serpentine belt. The way to relax the spring is to use your 14mm socket and ratchet and force the pulley down by driving the pulley nut in the clockwise direction. This forces the spring to compress and the pulley to drop giving the needed clearance to get your new belt in place.

I have a 2000 Isuzu Trooper w/ a factory installed 6 disk CD changer. It was working fine and then one day I put a CD in the changer and it wouldn't play.
The player shows that the CD is in slot two and that all the other slots are empty (which is correct). However, when I attempt to play the CD or eject the CD it will do neither. I decided to just let it keep my CD but then it started making a clicking sound each time that I turn the car on. The sound seems like the changer is trying to eject the CD but it's not able to. The clicking was 30 seconds and is now up to at least 2 minutes of clicking when the car is turned on. After that it beeps and then does nothing.
I have attempted to 'reset' the player by pushing a button in the inside left of the player w/ a bobby pin (as suggested by a friend who works on cars). That didn't eject but caused the clicking to start agan. I also tried to stick another CD in and loosen the current CD hoping it would eject, but no luck. Lastly I unplugged the battery to reset the player - again nothing but clicking.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the CD and/or remove the CD player to get the CD out. I can't afford a new CD player at the moment and would just like to stop the clicking sound!
Thank you!
Hello,
I just removed the 6-disc player from my 2001 Trooper. To remove it:
1) Remove the two screws above the radio area in the black faceplate
2) Remove the one screw located between the ash tray and the lighter.
3) Remove the four screws (two on each side) from the front center console cover and pull it back (you will need to shift into 2 or L)
4) Pop the black face plate off (there are some metal brackets holding it on that need some light force to pull out. Nothing should break)
5) There are two screws for the CD player and two screws for the radio. Unscrewing them will allow you to pull out the radio and disconnect the smaller CD wiring harness, then you can pull out the CD player.
When I unscrewed the CD player unit, I found that there are six plastic halos that hold each disc and move them up and down as selected. These had broken in some places and the discs had dropped to the bottom and stacked, so nothing could move...hence the clicking sound. Because there was a severe jam, nothing else could be loaded either...hence the error message. I'm attempting to superglue the pieces back together to see if I can reset it. Otherwise, I'd recommend you replace the unit (most likely what I'll do).
Hope this helps!
Ryan

2000 isuzu trooper,
Have a new EGR, Catalyc Converter, driver side oxygen sensor - but still getting OBD-II Trouble Code: P0401 Insufficient EGR Flow
Your SUV is really giving you a hard time, lol. Sorry but I've had those days too.
I would try to check if you have blocked EGR passages. If ok check for restricted MAP sensor vacuum hose/passage or restricted exhaust. I know you replaced the CAT but if the muffler is blocked then there would still be a restriction. Also check the wiring and connection to the MAP sensor.

2000 ISUZU TROOPER WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. CHECK TRANSMISSION LAMP. WON'T SHIFT AUTOMATICALLY. I CAN SHIFT THROUGH THE GEARS MANUALLY. IS THIS REPAIRABALE?
If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

My Isuzu Bighorn 4JX1 RJM Engine stalled after fitting it with new oil pump. It can crank but is emits smoke but not run. What could be the problem? I have tried to check if the fuel pump is not working but the test showed that it is working well.
the engine oil pumps are in the rear of the engine(trans out) and behind flexplate /flywheel, were any of these 2 engine oil pumps touched if so the flywheel /flexplate has to be timed to crankshaft position, so you might have it in the wrong position, if your talking about the diesel lift pump (injector pump) that also supplies high pressure engine oil to injectors, after replacing this there is a learn procedure for the rail pressure control valve that is on pump. this can only be done by dealer or some one with Tech2 scanner tool.
