I have a 92 don,t know if its the rear end or the front axles.
It sounds like your 4WD front locking hubs maybe sticking on. These were automatic locking hubs for this model. Ensure your out of 4WD and then just quickly reverse for a short distance the quickly go forward for a short distance. Repeat this 2 - 3 times, this should disengage the hubs.
If the noise persist you will have to get them removed and lubricated again. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

You have a dead short on the glow plug circut, if you look at the back of the motor there's a wire which is attached to the glow plug rail, this may be rubbing on the engine. If you follow it and make sure that this is not the case, then it can only be a short circut with one of the glow plugs. Hope this helps. Let me know if this helps
3 cylinders not geeting comprsion
First go to a different Mechanic, second,, if you have no compression in 3 cylinders, sounds like you have three dead cylinders or bad valves, either way it is not a cheap fix, unless you absolutely adore your trooper... it may be time to give her up.
Lost power to engine
Check make sure all plugs are firing. Sounds like what my 93 Rodeo was doing-Idled okay but very rough when in gear. Turns out only 5 out of 6 plugs were firing due to a defective ignition module- 100 bucks later it works fine.

have you check all the fuses, and is there a signal coming from the sensor with the wheels spinning,also did you replace the rear end abs sensor, if not also replace that one heres a diagram to show you how to test the speedometer in the dash, you will have to remove the cluster,also the sensor you did change was in the trany,thats the correct one is on trany but also do the rear diff sensor for abs,
Check trans light on....no power

If you had replace the timing Belt correctly according to the timing marks you on the cam,oil pump and Cranhshaft you shouldn't have a problem If the car won't start you may have to remove the timing belt and line up the marks correctly. other wise you can easily get a timing tool at the parts store and if you have repair manual it show you how.
How do you take off front rotors on a 1992 isuzu
Just go to the Parts store and get repair manual less than $20.00 it will show you step by step how to. That's how I do my repairs on my cars over fifteen years now, up to replacing Timing Belt without a problem.

I have a Trooper of the same year and have the same problem. I think it's the speed senser that's on the left rear side of the Transfer case (4x4) model. It is very expensive. I hadn't replace mine yet.
How to change headkight?
Raise hood and access the lights from behind the front cap. Carfully unplug socket and remove retaining ring or clips. Carefully remove bulb. Installation is reverse of removal. Be careful NOT to touch the glass surface of new bulb as the oils in skin will cause it to shatter when heated.

In situations like this there are rubber inlets in the cylinder system that you might have to replace too to enable proper performance.
This would not cost much. I love that car of yours with a passion.

We also had the same problem. it was the timing belt tensioner. How you can tell is take the timing cover off and see if the belt is jumping around.

Replace the speed sensor located on the transmission this sends the signal to the speedometer, you may want to check the plug and its terminals to be sure the terminals in the plug are not corroded if they are clean the terminals with electrical contact cleaner then drive the care see if cleaning the plug fixed it if not replace the speed sensor.
