I own a 2000 Audi A4 1.8. In the last two weeks, at night, the car just starts beeping for no apparent reason, this goes on for about 4/5 minutes, stops, then starts again after a few minutes. It's keeping my neighbours awake and me. Any ideas what it could be? Nicola Smith
I just had the same problem and read on another post how to fix it. Unlock your car, open and close all the doors, and lock it manually with your key. It worked.

I just recently purchased a used 2000 Audi A4 and I can not get the radio to work. I know that the battery was just replaced on the car before I bought it, so I was thinking that I just needed to put the radio card code back into the car but nothing happens when I press the on/off switch. The word safe does not appear on the screen....nothing appears on the screen. Please help!
I agree with Guest - he's got all the info straight.

I was wondering if anyone knew what steps were involved in changing the passanger front headlight bulb in my 2000 audi a4, what tools, pics if possible, etc. thanks in advance
The easiest way to do it is to pull the headlight out of the car. This isn't hard, but you'll have to have a T30 Torx bit to do it. There are three bolts that secure the headlight. Two are on top of the headlight - you'll see them right up there on top when you open the hood.
The third is harder to find. Look where the outer upper corner of the headlight meets the top of the fender, above the corner indicator. There is a lip on the fender that runs all the way back to the base of the windshield, where the edge of the hood sits when it's closed. There is a round hole in that lip near the headlight (just behind it). Shine a light down in there and you'll see the third Torx bolt. Take that out and you can slide the headlight assembly forward. You shouldnt' have to take it fully out of the car, just take the bolts out and move it forward.
Then remove the dust cap on the back of the headlight, pop the connector off the bulb, undo the spring clip holding the bulb, and remove it. Install the new bulb (wipe down the glass portion with your t-shirt to get any skin oils off it, as they'll burn it up quickly), and then reassemble in the reverse order.

Hello
I own Audi A4 Avant (p.y.2000) 1,9 Tdi (pump-jet) ana I have a problem with my instrument cluster - it does not work in the morning when outside temerature is less than 12 degrees celsius (lights, fuel gauge, tacho,..all) and suddenly when it is warm inside the car after 20km in works. Pleas can you help me?
Your dash has what is known in the trade as a dry solder joint in the instrument cluster it will have to be repaired by people whom specialise in this work.
You could try BBA remanufacture as they do a lot of this type of work for us.

we have an audi a4 and the alarm keeps going off for no reason- what should we do- please help
On an Audi with the simple alarm system (no motion sensor and no disarm button on door centerpost) the fuse cannot be pulled without also disabling the power door locks. You may also have problems with your license plate, back up or fog lights. I tracked my car alarm and light problem to the wiring to the trunk lid on the driver side. The wiring is enclosed in a sleeve and attached to the two parts of the hinge with a free section in the middle to bend as the trunk opens and closes. Inside this bending section I found the separate wires either broken completely or the insulation cracked, creating intermittent shorts and activating the alarm. I reconnected and taped the insulation and the problem was solved.

audi a4 1.9 tdi thermostat diagramm
First time you might check the thermostat operating.
Heed of antifreeze coolant temperature!!!
The thermostat location for a 2000 Audi A4 1.9 TDI is on back of the alternator at the bottom side of the bracket.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is NOT necessary to replace the alternator if you want to change the thermostat !!!
Thermostat checking:
1. Cold engine. Start up the engine and watch of the water temp indicator. After first value 60 Celsius Degree you still warm up the engine until the lifter (pointer) reach 80 C deg. (second mark after 60 C deg.). At this time you let engine running at idle speed and check with your hand the thermostat plastic housing and hose temperature in bottom left side of the engine. Heed of alternator driving belt and ventilator fan !!!
2. If the thermostat is good the hose must be cold until the water temp indicator reach almost 90 C deg.
3. The thermostat opening temperature is 87 C deg.
4. If the hose is already warm the thermostat is out of order.
Thermostat location, Part number: 044121113, in german - "Kuehlregle" (Price around $25):
Important note: Always replace the thermostat round seal, position 7 in the above picture.

just got the spark plugs replaced two weeks ago. the car now sometimes has a slower acceleration and occasionally jerks harshly around 45-60 mph. It is like it;s not getting enough gas. the mechanic ran it for codes but nothing came up. He assumes it is the fuel filter.
did you check all new plugs before put it in the engine.was the pakkage from the plug good.are this the plug adviced by manuel.its also adviceseble when changing the plugs to check also co and rpm.
because that can change, new ones are stronger and gif more power.
try this start your engine, let it warm up 1 minit or so.then sudenly ,
you puch pedal fast but short down.when the engine stalls when puch down allreddy.you chould check acseleration sprayer.also there are somtimes more then one fuell filters.you can have one on fuell tank.
then on engine, and if its an caburator in there is a very tiny one.ask yourself did the car run good before you chanfe spark plugs.many things can change doing something as normal as plugs.
