Does your RPM's dip from about 1,000 to just a tad below 500?

If so...try cleaning out your throttle.

Be sure not to spray throttle cleaner directly into the throttle, but on a rag and wipe away. Use something to hold the throttle plate open and use a small brass brush, dip into the throttle cleaning solution, and start to scrub away some of the built up soot.

Afterwards, wipe it down till you see a rather shiny throttle.

Pop the grab handle cover off, two different styles.

1. With a slot under the grab handle, take a small screw driver off and gently push up, it should just pop out.

2. Simple cover that can be separated with a bone tool or similar so you don't chip the cover piece.

Behind that you will find two Torx 25 screws, Take those out.

Around the edge of the panel should be around 8 plastic rivet type of thing.

Again...two different styles.

1. With center pins that blend in perfectly with the rivet. Should be about 3/32nds diameter. Push the center in and the rivet deals should pop out. Be sure not to lose the center piece...easy to lose.

2. Same deal but with a larger center pin.

Take the plastic triangle piece near the upper right hand area as facing the panel.

Pull bottom away from door and up to release from top section of door.

Careful removing the cable for the door lock release, and remove the connectors from the tweeter and driver's door module.

On a S60, 2012, (drivers door) you first remove the plastic cover in under which you find the lock (with keyhole). secondly, open the door and remove the 15 mm diameter plastic cover near the handle. Insert a long torx scrwdriver(T25 ?) in the opening and while keeping the door handle "open" (this gives you the possibility to easily replace the handle later) Turn the torx until it stops (do not use much force). Now you can pull out the metallic lock, peer out the small white plastic under the door handle and pull out the handle. Do not turn the torx before you have replaced the handle. In the case of back door, you start by finding the hole for the torx under the doors rubber sealing near the door handle.

Check that the battery cables on snug/tight on the battery (in the trunk on the left side) and also check under the hood, on the driver side. There's a little lid by the strut tower where the positive battery cable comes in. If that cable isn't tight, you may also have issues starting. These cars are really sensitive with the battery condition so you might want to take the battery to AutoZone to have them test it - or if the battery is over 5-6 years old, you might want to replace it anyway. A weak battery will make the computer confused in these cars. Home Depot (of all places) actually has the H8/Group 49 battery. That's the "diesel" battery for these cars. Yours will be H6/Group 48, but the H8/G49 battery is larger and fits right in and gives you more capacity.

One of the keys is most likely a chip key which sends a signal to the security system to allow the starting of the car. The other key may not have the chip or be programmed, therefore it can not send the signal to the security system allowing the starting of the car. It will crank but not start.
