If it accelerates good, going up a hill, and you don't feel it holding back, or sluggish when trying to accelerate, I'd certainly get a second opinion. What code were/are you getting?

idle air control valve or iacv is most likely your problem. common on civic's you need to do a search to find out where it is because it is different depending on what model you have. take it off and clean it with brake clean and put it back on with a new gasket.

it is on the rear of the block under the intake manifold. hard to see from to might need to get to it from underneath. The cheapest I have found them for civics was on amazon. they brake really easy and most of the time if you find a civic at the junkyard it is already been taken.

have you checked fuse box? they do have separate fuses for high and low beams. or your headlamp could just be bad, (burned out low beam)

Hello: I have removed several of the harmonic balancer bolts, and it is difficult to hold the harmonic balancer from spinning when you remove the bolt. The bolt is normal thread, and removal is counterclockwise. There is a Honda holding tool you can get, or possibly borrow from a autoparts store. I always use either an impact wrench or a long breaker bar, and hold the harmonic balancer from rotating with a chain style wrench. I use an old belt to keep from damaging the damper pulley. HONDA has the problem like some other japanese vehichles. buy genuine or get the puch. the wiring is made out of platinum and optical fibre while pirate manufactures only use optical fibre. tht when is means that the genuine sensors time delay is way less than the one of the pirate and the reading ability of the sensors are way differnt. the other problem is the plugs looks if it fits but is only fit about 80%. this is also causing a delay is signal to the ecm or also knowm as the ecu. so when you accelerate it picks up no problem as it would appear to the sensor that the timing is 100% due to the fast moving rate of the crank but when you decellarate the timing is retarding and the sensor doesnt read is properly and then gives a wrong message to the ecu. otherwise you should be aware that honda has no key way in the crank so your timing should be 1000% correct alligned with the marks on the crank and cam and the locked with force otherwise your timing could be out and then this problem can persist as the crank is in correct place when accelerating but when you decelerate there is a slight backward pull on the crank and then thee timing sensor reads this.

The only matter there should be in the throttle body is air. The throttle body in no way has anything other than "nothing" in it. The liquid you see could be the gasoline you threw into the throttle body. Getting back to your problem. Do NOT have someone looking down the throttle body while you are trying to start the engine. That person may receive a haircut he will never forget! Get the battery charged. Try to start the engine because even though you think you put too much gas in the throttle body, it may start. The tricky part. If the engine starts and runs for a few seconds, then you are having a problem with fuel delivery and that is the fuel pump most of the time but not always.. If it does not start at all, try one more time to pour gasoline into the throttle body, hold your foot about 1/2 way down on the pedal and then try again to start it. If it still doesn't start, it's time to check for spark.

Replace the contact to the battery.

try jumping the starter with a wire from battery to starter

Hi: To remove the belt, you must loosen the belt tensioner pretty far. It is located up near the front of the engine, not far from the air conditioning compressor. It has a 10mm bolt that must be loosened, and that will allow the belt to be removed. After the Alternator is replaced, tighten the belt back up, and start the car , shut it back down and adjust the belt as needed.

You may still have water either inside the distributor cap, or down in the spark plug holes, causing the spark to short out. Also I have run into some that get water into the crankshaft position sensor connector at the back side of the crank pulley. Good luck.
