You didn't post your engine size so please pick the one that works for you....I'll post them all separately:

2.3L Engine The oil pumps are not serviceable. If defective, they must be replaced.

  1. Follow the service procedures under Oil Pan Removal and remove the oil pan assembly.
  2. Remove the oil pick-up and tube assembly from the pump.
  3. Remove the oil pump retainer bolts and remove the oil pump.
To install:
  1. Prime the oil pump with clean engine oil by filling either the inlet or outlet port with clean engine oil. Rotate the pump shaft to distribute the oil within the pump body.
  2. Install the pump and tighten the mounting bolts to 14-21 ft. lbs. (19-29 Nm)

WARNING Do not force the oil pump if it does not seat readily. The oil pump driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor or shaft assembly. If the pump is tightened down with the driveshaft misaligned, damage to the pump could occur. To align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.

  1. Install the oil pick-up and tube assembly to the pump. If there is a gasket between the pump and the pick-up, use a new gasket when installing.
  2. Install the oil pan as previously described.

93 Ford Ranger Ignition Cylinder

I need to replace the ignition cylinder in my above stated truck. Before anyone goes talking about sticking paperclips in holes in the underbelly of the column, there are none, nor on the sides of the cylinder for that matter. At this point I have removed the column shrouds (upper and lower) and have observed no access to the locking pin. Please help!!

Hi..
On 1993 Ford ranger to remove the ignition lock cylinder switch

You need to remove the Steering wheel.
Remove trim shrounds.
Set ignition switch to Run position.
If your vehicle is A/T trans. put the selector lever in Park.
You will see retaining pin. Push retaining pin inward and pull out the lock cylinder.
Unplug wire from lock cylinder.
To install reverse remove procedure.

NOTE'' If you don't have the key or the cylinder is locked.
Instead of push the retaining pin you will need to Drill with a
1/8 in ( 3.17mm) Bit to drill out the retaining pin.
Be careful DO NOT drill more than 1/2 in deep.
After you need a chisel to break away the cylinder cap.
You need a 3/8in (9.52mm) bit to Drill in center of the cylinder.
Drill aprox. 1 3/4 in( 44mm) Deep.
REmove metal shavings. And remove the cylinder.
Clean and lubricate the gear inside. and install the new cylinder.

OK............I hope this information work for you.
Thank's for use fixya.

Removing/replacing wiper motor in '93 Ford Ranger

Need help removing/replacing wiper motor in '93 Ford Ranger. Cannot get the wipers in the upright position (current motor is dead), and thus cannot access the linkage joints. I don't want to just strong-arm them into the upright position, but I cannot move them without a working motor. I have a working motor ready to be installed, and a Chiltons manual to help, but I cannot go any farther without getting the wiper blades in the upright position. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't have to put the wipers in an upright position You can take the arms completely off. It's very easy to do, when you are looking at the base of the wiper arm, on the side closest to the windshield, at the base, there is a spring-loaded tab. Lift the arm on its hinge to where the arm is now pointing away from the windshield, pull the tab and the wiper arm will slide right off. Now you can access the linkage joints easily. Hope that helps!

sputtering-missing-vibrating-knocking-backfire-bucking

Sometimes my 2.3L runs great. Then for no apparent reason it will start vibrating and bucking, along with a huge loss of power, even backfiring. I have to mash the gas to maintain 45mph. Its almost like one of the coil packs stops working. I can smell fuel while this is happening. At idle it will still sputter and vibrate and want to die. Plugs/wires are new (thought it might have been a shorted wire) Sometimes it will buck a few times then go back to running good, other times it continues bucking and sputtering till I shut it off and let it sit for a long while. It does have a check engine light on but no one near me has OBD1 equipment to download the codes.

fords are known for vacuum leaks around the bottom gasket of the plenum. spray some carb cleaner around the base of the plenum and listen to the motor if it starts to increase rpm its probably a leaking plenum gasket.

How do you remove the gear shift lever on a 93 ford ranger?

How do you remove the gear shift lever on a 93 ford ranger standard shift when removing the transmission?

many of these trucks have a mazda trans in them, to remove these shifters you will need to remove the 4 phillips head screws from the corners of the trim around the shifter boot and pull it up out of your way. it's not necessary to remove the boot from the shifter, just lift it up for access to the top of the trans. at the base of the shifter on the top of the trans you will see a plate attached with torx head screws. remove all but 2 of them, now make sure the trans is in neutral and remove the last 2 screws and pull the shifter straight up. the shifter is now out leaving a big hole open on the top of the trans for dirt to fal into so put a wrag in it or screw a piece of cardboard to it. installation is the reverse. good luck
