Key's snapped off inside ignition
Hi I would suggest you ring the Automobile association, and see whether one of their mobile mechanics can solve your problem. extracting a car key from the barrel may be more difficult than it appears. He, the mobile man may have done it before and have the right tools for the problem.
VW 1.9 liter Turbo Diesel (not TDI) oil pan removal.
The gasket is most likely just holding it up and a little prying is needed like you think. As long as all of the bolts around it are taken out, you should be fine to start prying out. Then you will need to scrape the old gasket off and replace it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

2 cyclinders are working out of 4
You mean without taking it to a shop for repairs, or at least some diagnosing? Check for spark on all four cylinders. If two do not have a spark, the problem is in your ignition system. Possibly the ignition coil for the two not working.
If all four spark plug wires do have spark, it could be a fueling problem to the cylinders not firing, or it could be an internal mechanical problem in the engine. Then you would need professional help.
Google or watch a vid on you-tube for how to check for spark, if you are not sure.
My 1996 VW passat over heats. how can i fix it?
The hard hose it a sign of max pressure in the cooling system. Check that the fins in the core of the radiator are solid and not blocked. have a pressure test done on the cooling system for engine faults. Have the radiator fushed out by a radiator shop. Check that the thermostst is opening. Start cold and hold you hand on the top hose It will be cold for maybe 10 minutes and if the thermostat is working it will get warm and then hot to the touch as the unit opens and allows hot water to flow to the top tank
Cant get power to fuel pump
try the prim wire next to the battery, looks like a single spade connector all by it self, most of the time its a red wire, put a 12 volt power to it if the pump kicks on there then check the F/P relay in the fuse block make sure its sending power, if you get nothing at those places replace the fuel pump and connection wires while you have it out.
