How do I replace the front turn signal Bulb of a 2001 Ford Ranger
If I remember correctly to change the turn signal bulb you have to go in from the back side. So open the hood, look around because you may have to move some stuff for hand clearance, then it's a 1/2 twist to get the bulb socket out. install is the reverse of getting it out.
Battery light stays on
The light means the battery is not getting a charge. Your truck will run on the battery for a while. Eventually it will completely discharge the battery. Probably what happened to the other battery.
Picture of firing order
See if the spark plug wire numbers are visible where they connect to the distributor cap. find the #1 mark on the distributor cap and you will be able to see the firing order. The firing order may be in raised numbers on the intake manifold too.

What would short out the brake lights on 2001 ford ranger?
Doublecheck your battery voltage with the engine running. If it's above about 15V, TURN THE ENGINE OFF and get the regulator replaced! That's a classic symptom of a bad voltage regulator - I've seen it burn out everything on the vehicle - including the ignition.

Location of brake light fuse
usually there is a fuse map on the inside of the fuse cover, each fuse is numbered like F8 etc and there should be also be numbers right next to each fuse. the other option is to get a meter put it on buzz mode and pop out each fuse one at a time and put the meter probes onto the tabs of each fuse till you find the one that doesn't buzz.
