Ford P1298 code
This is a Code for a IDM failure. It can mean the loss of a signal through a bad connection or the failure of the part. The part can be looked up at major autoparts sites. There are 2 colors which are meant to distinguish the different in construction. One uses an external resistor in the wiring harness and the other has internal computers to do the same job. They are not suppose to interchange. The Ford Parts manuals are not accurate. Use aftermarket references at this point for the proper part. You can fit the wrong part and it may work for awhile, but it has an operational range and under some conditions can intermittently fail and then work again when back in the operational range. This Code also has been related to a failure in the wiring to the rear license plate or tail lights. What happens is a short in the trunk wiring by the trunklid hinges backfeeds power to the PCM in the engine. An article in Sparky's repair site under a Code1298 search reveals this happening in an Escort.I would check for the Color code, (either black or grey) to check if a resistor is in the wiring loom. Then a simple Ohmmeter test for continuity would show whether the resistor is out. This Code has been unusual, because most relate to 1 defect. This 1298 shows up as a Code for several defects within Ford products and different Manufacturers. Normally this does not happen because it defeats the purpose of a Code indicating 1 specific bad part.Check the car front to back. Look up the photos of the part online. Perhaps go to a Salvage yard for a wire harness and check continuity to see if it is intact and if the original has a resistor in the harness or not to match it up.
So tell me does a vapour lock ,comes from a hole in the muffler, and would that make a cranking sound come from your engine
To promote easy starting, all gasolines contain
volatile constituents that under some conditions, such as high ambient temperature, tend to produce more vapor than the fuel-system vents can handle. The action of an engine-mounted fuel pump, in decreasing the pressure at its inlet, tends to vaporize the fuel. If the vapor forms faster than the pump can draw it from the fuel line, the flow of fuel to a
carburetor is effectively stopped and the engine stalls. Vapor lock is much less likely on a fuel-injected engine with an electric pump in the fuel tank. However, an engine with port fuel injection may experience vapor lock if the
injector or fuel overheats, or if the Reid vapor pressure of the fuel is too high. Read more:

Turn it Back to the Neutral position (2 Turns)Reinstall
Vacuum goes from vent to defrost when excelarate
You have a vacuum leak somewhere. When you accelerate your engine vacuum drops. with a leak in the lines going to the heater control head you are not able to hold the spring loaded actuator door in the position you have it set for. The rest position of it is defrost. check for cracks or splits in the rubber vacuum hose that comes from the engine thru the firewall to the heater control head.
My car can not turn the steering wheel
The steering wheel is under pressure from turning the steering when stopped.Turn the steering wheel slightly so the pressure is released from the ignition lock and you will able to then turn the ignition key to unlock the steering wheel.

My 1998 for escort wierd problem with idling
When a crankshaft sensor has failed or is failing, certain timing problems will arise in engine function. The engine may start normally in some cases, but will cut off after a few minutes (or seconds) of operation. More than likely the engine will be unable to start at all. Since the crankshaft sensor is responsible for engine timing, the driver may experience engine backfire or irregular rpm function, if the vehicle starts at all.
