Heater cores are being made with such small tube/passages that small specks of rust, dirt, bugs, anything that may be traveling around inside your engine with the coolant, sticks to the heater core. Lately, I have been calling heater cores "coolant strainers". Ha Ha. Here is what you do. Take the heater hoses off (at the engine). Push water through both ways. Your problems might not be the swich look at the wires coming out of the door (where the henges are) look for broken wires this happens because of opening and closing the door also check swich for power might do wiggle test by pulling on wire at the door..
