Usually, those panels are held on by plastic fasteners. In order to pull the panel off, use a putty knife, or something flat that you can get between the panel and the door. A quick prying motion as you go around the perimeter of the panel should pop those plastic fasteners out of the holes in the door they go into. This will ruin the plastic fasteners, but they are not designed to be re-used. Take one down to the aut parts store, and the should have replacements in stock.

Typically, there are a few hidden screws right on the arm rest/grab handle. There may be a few hole plugs that need to be removed to access the screws.
After all of the screws are removed, pull the panel away from the door slightly to release it from the push pins, then lift up slightly and it should come off.

If you think it slips at all, then it will have to come
out & be rebuilt
Check for codes,if there any on your OBD 1 Vehicle
You can go to You Tube Video & if you know your tranmission
model look at the issues & see how they are rebuilt
If you type in ford transmissions on google, you can pick your
car & find it's trans unit model or number

On the solenoid the should be the letter B which stans for battery. One wire that comes from the battery should hoock there and all the others shuld hook on the other large post. You should have one small wire that comes from the switch that should hook to the S on the solenoid. Hope this helps,
