car loses power while driving and jerks while it's trying to accelerate but cannot,as I press pedall to the floor.Completely slows to a crawl on the freeway and almost stops but engine does not die. Then suddenly gets burst of power for short moment then sputters out and resumes slowing. This happens consistently on traveling forward.Sounds like sputtering.Have taken to a mechanic who replaced many components.Even some so called computer or electronic parts on a this 1984 volvo dl.Im sure he also checked fuel line and other aspects to do with fuel flow. It's some very cryptic, arkane problem he was not able to remedy.Maybe you know of common secret problems wich may be the culprit.Thank you. with my ford focus it only happens once in a while and the car loses power for like 4 seconds. it also happens when i am driving slow(if i am driving below 20/mph it turnes off but then it starts w/out a problem
Look at the back of the engine, there is a vacuum line goes into a rubber 90 degree part. Heat cause the 90 degree rubber part to have a hole in it. It is at middle of engine to the back by fire wall. Look for it when engine is cold

I have a Ford Focus ZX3 2003 with a 2.3 liter engine. My check engine light came on, so I put my scanner on it and pull up a code P0171. I erased it and drove around with the scanner plug in and had a hard code of P0171 and a soft code of P2195. Can anyone help me trouble shoot these codes? I've put a vacuum gauge on with no vacuum leaks. I changed the fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor. The scanner shows the O2 sensor checks ok, MAF sensor ok. I don't have the values of the sensors to check them out. Any help troubleshooting these codes would be appreciated.
Even though your O2 sensor is showing good by your scan, it could be lazy in giving readings. It has less than a 10 second window to give the reading especially if it is a heated O2 sensor. Try a Bosch unit.

where would i locate the pcv valve on an 03 ford focus? by popping the hood or jacking the car and looking underneath? and where specifically is this piece?
http://www.focushacks.com/images/pcv.jpg
Here's a picture to locate it..
So, when looking at the engine from above, on the right of the exhaust.
Procedure to replace it
1) Lift and support the front end of your car, or drive up on ramps
2) Get under the front of your car. The PCV Valve is located behind the exhaust manifold, a few inches below the valve cover.
3) Push up on the PCV valve to pop it out of the tube, or pull. You can get it out of the rubber tube with some effort.
4) Remove the rubber elbow from the top of the PCV valve. This can be re-used if it's not squishy. It can also be replaced cheaply.
5) Put the elbow on the new PCV Valve
6) Re-attach the elbow to the PCV tube
7) Push the new PCV valve back down into the large rubber tube

Where is the O2 Sensor located on 2003 Ford Focus? Check Engine Light is on and trouble shooter device says the problem is in the O2 Sensor Heater Circuit, but where is it located.
The code will tell you which O2 sensor it is.
The code will point to either bank 1 sensor 1; bank 1 sensor 2; bank 2 sensor 1; bank 2 sensor 2.
From what I remember with a focus, it should only have 2 sensors, sensor 1 will be located before the cat, and sensor 2 will be located after the cat.
