1989. How do I replace the transmission filter?
unless there is a problem with the transmission or the oil needs changing you will not replace the filter
it is in the pan and that has to come off to get to it
it doesn't need replacing as it is only a very fine gauze screen and can be washed out
if you do have to get to it then consider adjusting the bands and clutches while the pan is off as well
Cables are not hook up to battery someone close trunk now cant get trunk open
Why are your battery cables off? Does the trunk have a key lock? With some makes and models, the rear seat back will fold down, allowing access to the trunk. If not, you may be able to remove rear seat back then see if you can access the trunk.
If the trunk release is electric, have to check wiring circuit and applicable fuse.
What is model year, I'll try to look up trunk release wiring circuit.
My 1996 ford Thunderbird is sputtering and has no pick up when i push the gas
Most likely, you have a fuel delivery problem, or you have contaminated fuel (especially if you have been using ethanol blend fuel).
Begin by replacing the fuel filter. Then, check for proper pressure at the fuel rail, replacing the fuel pressure regulator and/or the fuel pump as required. Also, check the fuel intake strainer in the gas tank.
If proper pressure exists at the fuel rail (even when accelerating), proceed to a standard major tune-up (including replacement of all spark plug wires and coil packs), and have all codes read out from the ECU, servicing all indicated issues.
What is EGR ON 1996 ford thunderbird
Hi Andres it is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve some times they stick open causing loss of power and excessive smoke. They can be cleaned but if left too long the motor burns out from trying to close the stuck valve. Regards Jim...
How do I fix the horn on my 1964 Ford Thunderbird
check for 12 vots of power at the horn itself when pressing the horn button. If there is a reading then replace the horn unit. If there is no reading at the unit I would suspect no contact in the horn button/control itself.
How do I remove a steering wheel off my 1964 Ford Thunderbird
Remove the center horn pad assembly and remove nut holding steering wheel to column. You need a steering wheel puller to remove it from the tapered shaft once the nut is loose. You can rock the steering wheel and pull if you don't have a puller but when it lets go watch for a broken nose.
1960 tbird tail lights are on. But when i put foot on brake thay dont get any brighter
I would first check the brake light switch itself.
Using a simple test light see if there's any power in/ power out at the switch. It should be located on, or near the brake master cylinder. To test power out may require an assistant to push on the pedal if you can't rig up the test light to be visible from driver seat.
Also, if you have "power in" you could simply jumper the connection AFTER unplugging the socket from the switch.
This way you are taking the switch out of the equation to see if the circuit is good to the tail/brake lights themselves.
The switch should look something like this;

Hope this helps.
