Oil light blinking on 2005 vw gti
Check your owners manual for the procedure to reset the oil change indicator. Sounds like the oil was changed but the reminder was not reset.
Dies in hot temprature
Sounds like a fuel problem.
A carburettor will hold some petrol so your car probably starts then when that is gone it may stop, could be that what is in the fuel line being from the tank to the carburettor is evaporating in the heat this would mean no more fuel till the fuel pump, pumps more fuel through.
Or could be a blocked fuel filter this is not a big expense but should be done by a mechanic.
Just to make shore I would suggest you have a look were you mostly park the car, make shore there are no stains on the concrete as you do not want petrol leaks.
Also have a look under the actual car.
Regards Craig.
It has power steering. Why does it steer so hard?
Do you hear noises while turning the wheel at low speeds or stationary? If you hear a whining noise check the power steering fluid level. A low fluid level would make a whining noise as well as cause stiff steering. If you hear a squealing noise check the power steering belt tension. A slipping belt would cause stiff steering also. If you hear no abnormal noises check to make sure the power steering belt is there. If all of the above check out ok you may have a bad power steering pump, steering gear or a blockage in a pressure line.

Hard shifting is common if the transmission or engine ECU has logged a fault code or the solenoid pack or loom in the transmission is faulty.
You could try turning ignition to RUN without starting engine, then hold throttle pedal to the floor for 10 seconds and then turn ignition off...next turn ignition on to RUN without engine running and wait 35 seconds...turn ignition off and wait 30 seconds and restart. test drive to see if relearn has improved the shifts.
This procedure resets the ECU's to factory settings on many VW vehicles.

All of my speakers went
If you were pushing them with a new high watt stereo they're likely all blown. If not the amp may have died in your stereo. Take one out and check it (Mind the +/- polarity when you do and DO NOT just bridge it to another installed speaker). If it works (or not) you'll have your answer.
