RADIO WON'T TURN OFF WHEN KEY IS TAKEN OUT OF IGNITION

Today,my radio wouldn't turn off when i took the key out and shut the door. In addition, my overhead lights did not light up when I opened the door, but do light up if i push them on manually. The rear outside light stopped working too. Are these items connected?

sounds like you have a door ajar switch bad. spray some PB BLASTER lube available at parts store on the driver door latch assembley soak the latch assembley really good then open and close door 10 to 15 times and see if radio goes off.

truck shudders when turing right or left from a dead stop

My 2004 f-150 supercab 4wd, 83,000 miles, has started to shudder when you turn left or right from a dead stop, if you go straight it does not do it. It feels like it is in rear end but probably isn't. The transmission fluid is upossed to be a lifetime fluid but I don't know about that. Do you think a fluid/ filter change would work or can you not replace that transmission fluid? Is it the torque converter - I had heard Fords have tranny problems around 80-90 k in miles

I Am a Mechanic I have mainly worked on diesel for the last 12 years I have a 2004 F-150 FX4 EXT CAB TOW PACKAGE 5,4 4X4 WITH 9.75 rear end. I had the same problem I drained my rear end and put motorcraft and the limited slip addative I got from the ford dealer here in town. SAME PROBLEM. I drained the rear end again. put in amsoil and 2 "I said 2BOTTLES OF LIMITED SLIP ADDITIVE." that was almost 1 yrs ago I havnt had any problems since and I spend about 3/4 of the time pulling a trailer.

4/04 ford f150 4x4 front axle actuator won' t stay disengaged

with the truck in 2 wheel drive and accellerating hard, you can here the front axle actuators slightly engage. I have check all the vacumn lines found no leaks. I replaced the actuator on the right side,because it was mainly making the noise,but now the right still makes the noise and the left. If I put the truck in 4x4 it does not make the noise.It only makes the noise on hard acceleration, l have 25 in. lbs. of vacumn. but it acts like the actuators are loosing vacumn or leaking. Even though you checked the vacuum lines and found no leaks it does not mean there isn't a problem. The check valve in the line closest to the firewall actuator is probably your problem. Had the same issue replaced this line and solved it. The check valves in the vacuum lines are your best next guess.

my 04 f150 had a rough idle and would sometimes stall

my 04 f150 had a rough idle and would sometimes stall out. dealer said it was throttle body so I replaced. The idle is still rough but it it doesn't stall. Could it be a coil pack? if so do I need to replace all of them or just find the one that could be bad?

I have a 2005 f150,with a 4.6 and it idles rough and when you turn on the ac it wants to die. Checked the codes and there are no codes.Any suggestions?

For the new body style F-150 the fuel pump relay is not a serviceable item, it is built into the fuse panel.
The fuse is fuse 34 ( only for 04 & 05 MYs ) which is called Fuel injectors in the 04 Owners Manual.

The other items
1. Fuel Inertia switch ( assume you checked this, but it was not called out )
2. Teh Fuel Pump Driver Module ( FPDM ) on the cross member under the back of the truck. You need to drop the spare to see it.
There is a TSB on this, where corrosion can build up between the aluminum FPDM case and the steel cross member, causing the module to crack.
Here is what mine looked like before I changed it on my 2006

The cable is the spare tire lift cable and the picture is facing the front of teh truck, the tire is the driver's side rear tire.

Code P0012 - Variable Camshaft Timing Over Retarded - Bank 1

How does a P0012 code trigger the check engine light? This code will trigger the check engine light under the following condition:
* The comprehensive component monitor, referred to as the CCM, monitors the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) position for over-retarded cam timing. If the cam timing exceeds a maximum calibrated limit or is stuck in a retarded position, the check engine light will come on and set this trouble code.

Possible Causes:
Incorrect camshaft timing
VCT solenoid valve stuck open or continuous oil flow to piston chamber
Camshaft advance mechanism binding, or faulty VCT unit

Diagnostic Help:
This check engine light code is caused by a mechanical fault of the VCT unit or related components, so there is no need for electrical diagnosis. Possible symptoms may include rough idle, stall or hard start. Refer to manufacturer specific component tests for the VCT unit. You may also use the "Get Help" link if you need specifications or have any other related questions. Remember to refer to an appropriate manual for specific instructions.

Other details mentioned a P0012 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
* Incorrect camshaft timing
* Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system
* Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber
* Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)

Possible Solutions:
The main thing to check is to verify the operation of the VCT solenoid. You're looking for a sticking or stuck VCt solenoid valve caused by contamination. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit. after starting truck there are

after starting truck there are 5 beeps in 5 sets then stops. nothing shows wrong on computer check. checked by mechanic who can find nothing wrong all fuses have been checked. beeping stops after 5 sets of 5 beeps.

Make sure your air bag light is coming on..Sometimes if the airbag light is burn out on the dash,,it will give you beeps to let you know

f150 dome light

front and resr dome lights and cargo light go on and off randomly the door ajar light does not come on

The cargo/dome lights switch in the car is probably bad and is casing the lights to come on/off randomly. Try tapping or wiggling the cargo/dome switch to see if changes the randomness of the lights and if it does then the light switch is bad.
