Black smoke from exhaust
this guy is wrong. Black smoke means to rich[to much fuel]. Your motor is not shot. Something is wrong with the engine management[sensor]. White or blue smoke is a fatal problem.

Ford ATF is different from Dexron. Ford fluid contains banana oil, Dexron doesn't. Use only what it calls for. Or, you will always wonder. Good Luck.

Sorry I can't so much for you on this one except tell you that you have a hot wire or cable grounding out somewhere. I obviously is a large power line since it melts the positive post when contact is made. Check the positive cable that runs down to the starter. It may have been pinched or possibly melted through the rubber case that encloses the cable. Follow the cable from the batery or soleniod down to the starter and check where it may have come into contact with the hot exhaust and melted through. Good luck I hope this gives you a good starting point. Let me know the outcome. I would be glad to help more if you need it.
I have a 1998 ford windstar lx. i drove to a
There are various fault code that the engine light represents. Get the computer scanned and see what exactly the problem is. It may be a miss fire, or it could also be something else. You said that you just put gas in it...double check the gas cap. Take it off and put it back on. If it is loose, that will set off an emissions code. Hope this helpls.
Nearside rear brake caliper seizing + offside track rod end worn
hi, i have just read your requests for help! to change the track rod you need a splitter, because the joint is tapered, first make sure the car is jacked and on an axle stand, remove the nut from the top of the joint then look at where the joint meets the steering rack you will see a lock nut, loosen this nut, then split the t/rod from the hob, count how many turns you then unscrew the old unit, wind on the new one the same amount of turns, put the taper back into the hud and screw on the nut, when this is tight, tighten the lock nut on the rack, finally check the tightness of everthing, and away you go, i have found that on the probe the calipers are not really a servicable item i have done a few and after a short time they kick off again, also if the piston is corroded it is not worth doing as the piston corrosion is the main cause of siezure, hope this helps
Speedometer
about 60.00 and yes any garage can do it for you
Removing the front axle
I am going to assume that this is the driver's side axle you are having problems with. If so, there is a tool that is required with a slide hammer to pull this axle from this transaxle. If it is the passenger side, there is a tool that is inserted through the transaxle after the driver's side axle is removed.
15 amp fuse for tail lights inst. pannel and o/drive blows
If it has reverse and second only it is in limp mode, something has gone wrong to cause it to do this. Sometimes you can disconnect battery and it will reset, but as soon as the problems happens again it will go back into that mode. Bad internal solenoid on transmission, slipping clutches, no power to transmission computer ie blown fuse, fauty tansmission computer. Try having some one pull the codes, if they can't it is a blown fuse or bad transmission computer. Hope this helps
Spark plug removal
you have to use an extention and a socket. I'm not sure what size socket.
