Replace the shock absorbers.

Check it with a timing light. Sounds like someone may have messed the timing up by removing or turning the distributor.
Also check for any vacuum leaks. don-ohio

You will need to pull the door trim panel off and check inside for the extent of the damage and what parts are needed.

Yeah... Very good logic..!

Without the year... it would be pure speculation.

I can assure you that the late 50's did INDEED have troubles EXACTLY as you describe... and It was an EXCITING RIDE
(upside down with my shoulder on the gas peddle)...
((feet flailing in the air)).

So you probably want to raise the car, block the wheels
and select a flat/open area in up state Utah or Texas

Might be a clogged heater core. Could also be a blend door motor Make sure you have antifreeze up to proper level. don-ohio

On the floor end of the shift column
before it goes through the fire-wall.
(standing on your head)

lest you be driving around... upside down
(like I did... (no accidents... but that not in my hands)).

Hello Jacqueline Iannuzzi,

The actual solenoid on that car is on the side of the fender ...
Large lugs are for the BATTERY & STARTER Cables.

The small terminals If one comes directly from the "S" terminal of your IGNITION SWITCH...

In a simpler time the "other" terminal was the "B" power to the ignition switch
(you should NOT have the 2 wire solenoid (I don't think)).
