I have a 1990 Probe Gt hatchback. I have alwaya had a problem with a leak - I have 3" of water in the spare wheel well. Where is the water coming from and how do I fix it?

My 89 Mustang used to do this as well. With my car, it was caused by a bad hatchback weatherstrip. The water would run down the seam at the bottom in the center and trickle into the spare tire well... Worth a look

Replace the plugs. And also the mass air flow sensor. Both are inexpensive, and should help. If not the idle sensor is bad.

High idle in drive

it cost nothing to have it read at autozone..sounds like a fuel injection problem or firing improperly ..I am leaning more towards your spark plugs and or timing ..check also your distributor and rotor

1990 ford probe stuck in park wont unlock

Have someone look at the Brakelights when you step on the brake. If they do not light up, that is the reason the car will not shift into gear. There is a switch on the top of the brake pedal and it is an Interlock. The part is suppose to reduce the chance of runaway cars when you shift into gear, a process known as "lurching".Although the switch is mounted high on the brake pedal lever, it often gets broken or moved by the drivers' feet. Look up under the dash and see the condition of this part on the brake pedal lever. You will then know whether to replace or reposition the switch. Please rate my info.

How do i remove the fuel pump from the gas tank on

It's much easier than it seems. First, get as much fuel out of the tank as you can. Put the back of the car on jackstands so that you have plenty of clearance. Disconnect the neg. battery cable. put a piece of plywood between your floor jack and the tank and raise the jack until it is snug and flush against the tank. Open the fill hatch and remove the screws that connect the fill tube to it. Now locate the two straps that are holding the tank on. There will be one bolt per strap. Remove them. Have someone on standby in case you need another pair of hands. Get out from under the car and lower the jack as slowly as you possibly can. Be ready to stop it instantly in case the tank slips out of place. Empty, the tank weighs nothing and won't hurt you. Full, it could weigh 150 lbs or so. As you lower the tank, keep an eye on the fill tube (or have your helper watch it) to make sure it's not getting hung up and is lowering with the tank. You'll see the sending unit on the top of the tank. Unplug the wires. There is a ring around the sending unit that you will tap counterclockwise with a screwdriver and hammer (TAP being the keyword here). The ring will turn until it pops out. Now you can grab the sending unit and pull the pump out. (The sending unit is on top of the pump. They're one piece) You may need to drop the tank all the way down and it's a good idea because you won't have to keep it balanced on the jack while you're working on it. Putting it back is just reversing the order. You'll be suprised at how easy this is. Especially if you can empty the tank. Emptying it isn't 100% necessary and not even always possible but if you can, by all means do. If you work on it with a tankful of gas, be very careful. It's heavy.

Ford probe

the front drive axle on one side may have not been installed all the way in to the transmission, check to see if it is loose and have some one look under front end with engine on, front end jacked up, emergency brake on and in gear to see if a axle is turning. if one is and yhe other is not put the car in park and turn\ roll the wheel that was not turning by hand if it rolls your problem is most likley to be the axle has come loose from the transmission

Your transaxle will have to come out & new parts installed, like synchro ringsYou should be able to push in the clutch & shift thru allgears nice & smooth, with no engine running. That said I wouldn't rule out clutch issues also, but notfor the shifting issues.

I have a 1990 Ford

Check the battery connections and cables. A loose cable or corrosion on a connector can give intermittent shorting that will prevent the car from starting/running. Your problem may be solved by simply tightening/replacing a cable or cleaning the battery posts.
