Vacum manual for a 1992 pasat gl 2.0
I have one of these cars and as far as I know there is no such diagram. I even have the3 Bentley manual for the car and it is no help. However, if you go to "vwvortexforums" you can, with some digging, find it in the archives.
You'll have to register but that only requires a valid e-mail address and takes about 5 minutes to get a password. Once you get that you need to look in either the 16V forum or the B3-B4 forum. You will find them under VW forums on the main page. Both have a search function that you click on, type in what you are looking for. Read the page carefully before you do it so you don't waste a lot of time.
I found a vacuum diagram in there but I didn't write down the thread so I can't tell you exactly where it is. I vaguely remember it being listed as a 1.8L but it was the same layout as what I knew for sure was right in my car and I think I looked at quite a few pages before I found it.
Happy hunting and I hope this helps. It's a good web site for help keeping an old VW on the road.l
I have a 1992 passat just changed the thermostat
Did you check or replace the temperature sending unit ?
Usually this sender is what tells the fans to come on when it gets too hot.
The relays are on chances are becasue the sender is grounded from being bad OR you have a short going to the trigger side of the relays.
Where is the thermostat located on a 1992 passat
You will find the thermostat on the lower rad hose. Under the car follow the lower rad hose to the point where it goes into the coolant pump on the engine. If you are replacing it, get a new O-ring for the housing or it will leak. Hope this helps.
Rear disc breaks. got new
You cannot use a different model as the gear is there for some reasons.. ABS uses these things sometimes and so does speedometer readings...Hope this helps.
1992 passat front seatbelts stopped working
If you have the regular hand fastening belts there are no serviceable parts and they must be replaced. A trip to a scrapyard would be in order. If you have the automatic shoulder belts there are 2 fuse/relays in the fuse panel. On the very top row of relays, one back from the steering wheel isone. On the very bottom row of relays, 3rd in from the door is the other. According to my book they both are 10 amp.
There are 2 grounds,1 beside the fuse panel attached to the bracket that the dash connects to and the other is under the back seat on the driver's side.Check your connectors for corrosion (green color) and breaks.
I do have a diagnostic flow chart if this doesn't do the trick but I'll have to write it out because I don't have a printer or you can go to faxonautoliterature and order the service manual for the car. Hope this helps.
Turns over but wont start
OK three essentials for a running motor......
1. Fuel - Check to ensure you have gas up to the engine. Check fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel injectors.
2. Spark - Make sure your system has electrical current to fire the plugs. Check your wires to the coil(s) the plug wires, cap & rotor and spark plugs and gaps.
3. Air - Check to make sure any air flow sensors are connected, most cars wont run with the MAF (Mass air flow) sensor disabled. Check your air filter to make sure its not dirty. if it is it can restrict air flow and cause your motor to flood its self out instead of allowing the gas to ignite, hope you found my answer helpful!
Power steering is stiff, if fluid is low can that
The tank has a green reservoir cap usually. The cap will also tell you if you are to use hydrualic oil to refill. The brand name is Peltosin and is sold at CarQuest etc. It is expensive, about $15-$20 per liter. You do NOT want to mix power steering fluid (ATF fluid) with hydrualic fluid. Make sure you know what your car requires and make the adjustment to the level as you need. Don't over fill, and keep the fluid from spilling on any painted surfaces etc. Wash with soap and water immediately if you happen to spill. The low level can be the cause of the hard steering, but also make sure the belt is tight and in good condition. It is a good idea to check tire air pressures too. Keep them above 30psi om 14" wheels, and higher as the wheel size increases. If you have 15" or 16" use 34-36psi for better handling and less burden on the power steering system. If the fluid is leaking out on your garage floor, you have a bad hose or pump seal, but the steering rack seals could be leaking. If any of these are the problem, get tha leak fixed asap, and keep the reservoir full so that you don't burn up the pump.
