Put in a new battery last November and now you go to start it it just clicks

Check the battery terminals, and battery posts, they may need to be cleaned. Your local parts store sells a battery post and terminal cleaner brush. When disconnecting the battery besure not to cause any sparks and if you smoke put it out before starting any battery maintence. Take the negative terminal off first, clean but dont put it back on yet. take the positive terminal of and clean both the terminal and the battery post.. Have someone with a volt meter check the voltage in the battery, if it measures 12volts, if available, then install the positive terminal first, then the negative post last taking care not to create any sparks. Once that is done try to start the car. If it starts, you have fixed it. If not, then you will have to move on to the starter solenoid.on the left inner fender, the other end of the positive batery terminal cable hooks to it. Again take the negative battery terminal off and replace the solenoid. Pay close attention where the wires came off of. Once you have replaces the solenoid, hook the negative terminal back on to the battery. This should take care of the problem, If not then you have to take the starter off and take it to you local parts store and have it tested they will tell you if it is bad. That is the last thing in the starting circuit that will cause the clicking noise. I hope this information help you to sovle you problem.

87 ford ranger wont start replaced pulugs and wires

Common Sense - tells you that replacing sparkplugs & wires, while they may be an issue, or dueto be replaced, they won't all fail at once & causea no startYou need to check for fuel pressure at the motorwith a gauge & check for spark or injector pulse, whilecranking the motor with the starter.Compression has to be on all cylinders & any timingbelt or chain in place & working correctly

Ranger looses power up hill

I am assuming you have the 2.3 liter 4cylinder engine.. This is common in all rangers straight out of the factory with that motor. Your asking alot out of a 4 cylinder truck that also get good gas mileage. they just do not have the capacity to gain speed up a hill. There are a few solutions for you that you could try. If it is a 5 speed manual transmission try to speed up before the hill and when you start losing speed go to 4th gear. this is also good for using as a passing gear as im sure you have noticed you lack power when trying to rapidly accelerate at highway speed to pass. an aftermarket cold air intake combined with a less restrictive exuast will give you anywhere from 5-20 hp gain AND give you more MPG'sOr you can buy a light truck with a v6 or v8 in it. rangers can be equipped with v6 as can chevy s10's. dodge dakotas have the availability of small block v8. this is of course will cost you alot in gas (based on experience) I am a 10 yr mechanic and have owned 2- 4 cylinder rangers a 93 and a 94 my dakota which i still own is a 01

How complicated is it to replace rings on 92 ford ranger?

It depends on many things.Your skill level, your work area, and your tool assortment. Also, if you are going to tear down the engine to pull the pistons out and replace the rings, you would normally have the cylinder head(s) redone and replace the rest of the engine parts. Otherwise called an engine overhaul. Then the question becomes, how much is the truck worth ?It could cost you several hundred dollars and a couple of weeks of your time to rebuild the engine, where a used engine could be had for a couple of hundred. If you really are interested in tackling the job, buy a repair book or shop manual and read up on it.
