Fusible link wire gets really hot.
Removing the two smaller wires stops the exciter current to the alt which stops it charging.
Usually if a wire is getting hot its because:
A: Current overload..
B: Corrosion in wire restricting current.
C: Corroded terminal.

I have a 1975 dodge w200 with a 360 in it i
I would suggest checking the needle in seet in the carb - it may be missing, or not in place, or wore out. Also make sure that the air/fuel misture is set correctly. You could also need to replace the fuel pump (or buy an electric fuel pump and install it in the engine compartment). Last, check the gasket between the intake manifold and the carborator for any fuel leaks, as this will cause it to start, then die.

Dodge 318 overheating.
HI. It could possibly be the the thermostat is stuck shut. If thats the case when the vehicle warms up it will probably overheat all the time. The best way to tell is buy a new one and change it. They are usualy around $10.00 at any autoparts store. If you change it and it still overheats, it could be the waterpump.

1983 dodge ram 4x4 wipers wont ever work
Will or can you move the wipers by hand? Does the wiper motor hum when it is turned on and had power to it,or have you tried attaching a wire directly to the motor from the positive side of the battery? If the wiper arm and linkage is free and the motor can be turned by hand while attached,if voltage is going to and from it, it will work or it(the motor) is defective.
