Hi i have a 1995

Hi, my name is John I will do my best to assist you.

You stated then after stopping, when take off it hesitates. Do you mean the engine hesitates, or that the transmission hesitates? Based on what youv'e told me so far here are my initial suggestions.

  1. Ensure that the transmission is filled to the proper fluid level.
  2. Consider draining the transmission fluid, replacing the fluid filter, and refilling with fresh fluid. Also while the pan is removed you can adjust the Low and Reverse band. See the procedures below. If the band is out of adjustment this may explain why reverse gear doesn't engage.
DRAIN AND REFILL & BAND ADJUSTMENT
  1. Raise the front of the truck and support it on jackstands. Place a large drain pan under the transmission.
  2. Unbolt and remove the exhaust system downpipe if it interferes with the pan removal.
  3. Loosen the pan attaching bolts and tap the pan at one corner to break it loose.
  4. Allow the fluid to drain into the drain pan.
  5. After most of the fluid has drained, carefully remove the attaching bolts, lower the pan and drain the rest of the fluid.
  6. Remove the filter attaching screws and remove the filter.
  • Use an inch lb. torque wrench to adjust the front band on the A-500 transmission.
  • Loosen the band adjusting screw locknut and back it off about five turns. Be sure that the adjusting screw turns freely in the lever.
  • Tighten the adjusting screw to 72 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  • Back off the adjusting screw as follows:
    • A727 & A518: 2 turns
    • A998 & A999: 4 turns
    • A-500: 4 turns
    • 42RH: 4 turns
    • 46RH: 2 turns
    • 47RH: 3 turns
  • Keep the adjusting screw from turning, tighten and tighten the locknut to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).

  1. Install a new filter. Tighten the screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
  2. Thoroughly clean the fluid pan with safe solvent and allow it to dry.
  3. Using a new gasket, install the pan to the transmission. Tighten the attaching bolts to 150 inch lbs. (17 Nm).
  4. Pour 4 quarts of DEXRON® III automatic transmission fluid in through the dipstick tube.
  5. Lower the vehicle, start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes. With the parking brake set, slowly move the gear selector to each position. Return it to the Neutral position.
  6. Check the fluid level. Add more fluid as necessary to bring it up to the "ADD ONE PINT'' level.
  7. Drive the truck to bring the fluid up to normal operating temperature. Check the level again. It should be between the "Add'' and "Full'' marks.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action you might wanna try replacing the fuel pump. If there's no fuel supply to the injectors then it will surely not fire up, just cranks.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Is the check engine light on? Those transmissions had problems with the valve bodys in the transmission. The trans my be in limp in mode. Check the transmission fluid level with the truck running. If it is full than it is most likely an internal problem.

1995 dodge ram 1500, the battery is fully charged

Trace the Positive (+) wire from the battery to the starter. Ensure that the connection at the starter is tight.

Also, check that the battery connections are cleaned up shiny and new with a wire brush, and connected tightly.

Also, check that the ground connection at the frame or body, from the Negative (-) wire is tight.

If the above steps don't solve the problem, look for a main fusible link or fuse that has blown that is close to the thick positive wire.

Good luck on this repair.

1995 dodge had new water pump installed and now

you may only have a vacum lock in the coolant system, try letting your engine cool all the way down. then remove the radiator cap, start engine, add antifreeze to the radiator until it's full, put radiator cap back on,but do not lock the radiator cap on all the way, also you say you replaced the water pump? did you maybe get the heater hoses mixed up? in otherwords, didd you maybe reverse the flow to heater core? trying to help and racking my brain at same time, sorry! if all else fails!can tell you how to get emergency heat, cut a small peice of card board, put in front of the radiator,,only one side, halp of peice at first, you will have emergency heat, not a permanent fix. but promise heat! do not put in front of an electrical fan, not for you but everyone see;s this, so have to be sure to look out for you and everyonr else also. put the cardboard in FRONT of the radiator, you should be able to slide it in between the radiator and the air conditioner condensor.only takes a small peice only, not too much because the engine will really get too hot ok?

Yes, there is a plastic vacuum supply line the runs from the intake manifold thru the firewall to the heater control panel. Check where that line attaches to the intake manifold. There is usually a stub of regular vacuum hose glued to the plastic line that can crack and leak at the manifold. If it's ok there, trace it into the truck. There may be a tee somewhere that is leaking inside, or else the connection at the mode switch or possibly the switch itself. Take the control panel out (you may have to pull the bezel off to expose the screws) and listen to the switch with the engine running. Try tugging on the lines to see if the leak gets worse. Worse case, you will need a new switch, but try to rule out any tees or hoses first. OK?

95 ram 1500 Headlights will not come on but I can

Hello kelly fox: my name is Roger and I will help you. There are only a couple of things most likely to be the problem. I would look at the head lamp bulbs first. I have had the same problem of both lamps suddenly burn out on my dodge ram. The only other component is the multi function switch could have a problem. This could happen but most likely the bulbs are the issue. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Every time I turn on

Your switch that adjusts the dash brightness hs a resistor in it, and that would be a good place to start checking it out. They do burn up, and short out.
