Gas mileage is terrible,check engine

auto zone reader will sometimes not read codes. take it to your local garage and ask them to plug into it with an updated reader. i dont charge to read a code and i would hope they dont either. the o2 sensor could cause bad gas mileage. whens the last tune up done? check air filter. plugs? also check air in tires. low tires can cost fuel mileage as well. hope this helps

Speedometer needle maxed out and won't go back

It`s not the speed sensor. If it was the speed sensor it would not work or would not be accurate. If it is stuck then it is the cluster. You can try tapping on the top of the instrument panel and see if it will come back down.If not then you will have to replace the cluster. If you have under 70k miles the you can get this done at the dealership for free.If you have over 70k but not over 80k they will replace the cluster but you have to pay for the labor.Which includes replacing and programming.Even if you get a used cluster you still have to have it programmed by the dealership or the vehicle will not start.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Remove and replace, Chive 2500 rear disk rotors?

Rotors are relatively easy to remove, there should be two bolts that attach them to the backing plate. Disconnect the brake fluid lines first and under the hold down bolts.

My 2005 duramax is building up alot of pressure in

The root cause of the engine overheating was the closed stuck thermostat.
Unfortunately the cylinder head gasket was cracked, and as a result the air pressure from cylinders pass inside cooling system pushing the coolant out.
You need to remove the cylinder head and replace the gasket. Also check the cylinder head surface flatness before reinstallation. New cylinder head bolts required.

When filling up with gas the pump cotinually shuts

You may just have to find a happy medium as to how far you insert the nossle, there's not really any way for the tank to vent other than the fill tube, so you may just try not inserting the nossle all the way to the stopper.

I have a 2003 duramax

Get the fuel filter checked when its in no start condition in hot weather. Also disconnect the FPR and see if that is making any difference.FPR means fuel pressure regulator. If disconnecting the fuel pressure regular helps the engine to start in hot weather then its FPR problem. ----------------- If its not starting in hot weather or taking time to start in hot weather then problem is related to glow plugs. This glow plugs needs to be checked and replaced. Also try cleaning the glow plugs then recheck.------------------But if the car is running normally but it stops when it gets hot/warmed then in that case glow plugs are not faulty. In that case the fuel pressure has to be checked. If fuel pressure is low then fuel pump and fuel filter are to be replaced to solve the issue.---------- Also check the fuel filter seal.If this seal is loose, then tight it and check. If the seal is cracked or loose then it can cause this problem. When its cold the seal gets contracted and when it gets hot it expands and the fuel pressure must be loosing. The seal on the fuel filter could be the issue, try and give it a 1/4 turn more unless its on really tight. And make sure the bleeder valve up top is good as well as the Water sensor on bottom is tight too. There is no electric fuel pump on these trucks; the CP3 (high pressure pump) sucks the fuel from the tank by itself....thats why any pinhole leak anywhere in the fuel line/filter/system will make it hard to start.-----------But when you start the truck then fuel pump runs for few seconds and this makes the fuel run through the pump to the engine. If you notice the fuel is running there and if you see wetness at the engine side of fuel pump, then its faulty glow plugs causing this. But if no wetness noticed then its fuel pump and fuel filter issue. ------------------- This troubleshooting procedure will help you to solve the problem,by detecting the faulty part.Thanks.Helpmech.

UNDERCOVER VEHICLE NEED TO TURN HEADLIGHTS OFF

Most of the time with a GM type vehicle to get the headlights off while engine is running and vehicle is in park you just have to put the parking brake on only a click or two. That or sometimes you have the ability to turn them off by the headlight switch which is normally turned to automatic. If you turn it all the way to the right it should turn them off.

The service air bag light came on in my 2005 2500

Hi,

Without having the fault codes scanned in the Sensing and Diagnostics Module (SDM, also known as the Air Bag Module), its impossible to know for sure why the light is on, unless you physically see a fault.

Usually after a steering shaft has been replaced, if proper service procedures are not followed, the clockspring in the column gets broken, but it does not appear this is the case, since the job hasn't been performed.

The next step, if you don't want to take it to ge the codes scanned, is to inspect under the seats for loose connections. On these trucks, there is usually a seat position sensor attached to the seat track (what the seat slides on). On the drivers side, its located on the outside of the right hand seat rail, towards the front (kinda up against the center console if it has buckets). Often times the retaining clip breaks preventing the connector from staying on the sensor. they may be a similar sensor on the passenger side, also attached to its seat track rail.

If nothing is found, and you have side airbags (air bag in the side of the seat back) inspect the connections for them as well, usually accessable from behind under the seat).

If all that checks out, you may have high resistance in one of the connectors. I reccomend you unplug the battery and wait 10 minutes before carrying out the next step. After 10 minutes, Look for any Yellow connectors under the dash. Every yellow connector you find (yellow connectors are air bag connectors), unplug and plug back in 5 times each. There is also one behind the front kick panels, driver and passenger side. If there is resistance in one of these connectors, cycling the connector multiple times will restore the connection. Once all the connectors have been cycled, reconnect the battery and recheck the system.

If none of this works, you will have to take it to a shop and have the SDM scanned to help narrow down the failed component.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
