Some model you have to remove the dashboard to have access to the heater core. Some you can just pull it out from the passenger side under the dashboard.

Call your dealer cause there is a recall on some of the instrument panels in the 2004 chevy's. You call them they take your sin # and they can tell you if it is one of them, it's a good chance that it is a recall. They fix it on warrantee.

IF the brakes have been bled properly and there are no issues with the system then reset the unit using a code reader.
