Is the MIL on? When you say HOT do you mean normal operating temperature or above normal?

Check fuel pump relay located usually on the firewall. Did you pinch the wiring harness when you put the transmission back in?

This seems like there is a loose connections to your instrument cluster. Remove your instrument cluster and ensure everything is connected tightly and check the fuses and this should solve the issue.

you can get the part you want from international truck dealer they are a warehouse for allison. it is gear selector switch it will cost you around $55.00

if it is not on the steering wheel it may be on the multi switch, you might have to push it in from the side. just a shot in the dark here.

they have an issue with the instrument panel connectors, my 05 2500 hd has an intermittent problem where it goes dead and if you smack the dash or hit a bump driving it will reset. It got much better when I put an extra twist in the cable before connecting it. I also got a replacement cluster due to bad lights etc and it does the same as the old one,I think it's a loose pin, probably ground but haven't gotten around to fixing it. my 95 c 1500 did the same

there may be a loose connection behind the instrument panel/dash or a blown fuse

did you check the beams and the socket,then fuses,but change the socket if you can ok,the running light should be the inner seal beam that i think also is the hi beam so check your light switch as well

momentarily turn the switch clockwise when it in the auto position and it should turn the lights on or off, if not you may have a bad switch relay located in the power distribution box under the hood. U might go to UR Chevy Dealer parts department & ask them nice to make U a copy of it out of their shop manuals if U don't have one. U also fine some of them online if U look in the right places.
