Without warning truck looses all power while
Hi, it sound like your engine is stalling, causing the battery light, steering, and brake issues. I would not be as concerned about these items, as I would the engine stalling. If you have an overall low idle condition, and the engine stalls as a result, I would clean the throttle body, as a carbon build up may be causing this. If the engine just stalls at will, you may have a faulty fuel pump, causing low, or no pressure. If this is a diesel, You should have a scanner put on, as it cuold be a number of things. Good luck...Coop

Sounds like the encoder motor needs changing out.
Tccm removal
The TCM is located in the right rear corner of the engine compartment. If you are buying a used TCM from a vehicle that has the same exact specifications, as yours then removal and instalation is easy. Disconnect battery, remove mounting screws and unplug electrical connections, and reverse. If you are buying a new TCM, make sure that the Dealership will sell you a preprogrammed unit. Unless a preprogrammed unit is available. it wont work. You will need to get the truck to the Dealership for this repair. Good luck.
Fuel in engine base oil
I'm not much on diesels, but for gas engines the most common source is a leaking injector or fuel pressure regulator.
